Judith A. Dillenburg

Judith A. “Judy” Dillenburg, 79, of Shawano, passed away early Saturday morning, July 13, 2019, with her loving family at her side, at Bellin Hospital following a brief illness.

Judy was born Oct. 22, 1939, in Shawano, the daughter of the late Roy and Mabel (Grosskreutz) Rades. She attended Shawano schools, graduating from SHS in 1958. Following high school, she attended the Humboldt School of Airline Technology. On July 29, 1961, she was united in marriage to Gerald Dillenburg at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. The couple lived in Shawano their entire marriage. Besides being a wife, mother and grandmother, Judy was employed at the Shawano County treasurer’s office and worked in retail at various stores in Shawano.

Judy was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. She loved trips to the casino and following the Milwaukee Brewers. She enjoyed bird watching and tending to her flowers. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren.

Survivors include her loving husband of nearly 58 years, Gerald, of Shawano; two children, Mark (Becky) Dillenburg, of Shawano, and Dawn (Randy) Lorge, of Shawano; three grandchildren, Stacie (Nicholas Moraza) Dillenburg, of Milwaukee, Tyler Dillenburg, of Green Bay, and Brett (Samantha Leiser) Lorge, of Shawano; one brother, Gene (Kim) Rades, of Shawano; four sisters, Mary Baldwin, of Madison, Linda (Aimo) Jarvi, of Appleton, Bonnie (Donnie) Buchert, of Arizona, and Cheryl (Bob) Giese, of Pelican Lake. She is further survived by three brothers-in-law, Al (Jan) Dillenburg and Don (Donnabelle) Dillenburg, both of Shawano, and Ken Dillenburg, of Green Bay; and three sisters-in-law, Carol Stefl, Rita (Art) Lohrengel and Joanie (Jim) Vanlerberghe, all of Green Bay; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Judy was preceded in death by her brother, Dick Rades.

A funeral Mass for Judy Dillenburg will be celebrated Thursday, July 18, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. The Rev. Scott Valentyn will be the celebrant. Entombment will be in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum. Visitation will begin at the church at 9 a.m. and continue until the hour of service.

Rita Lemke, 89, of Cecil, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019, in Appleton. Rita was born July 2, 1930, in Winona, Minnesota, to the late Walter and Mollie (Fetting) Huebsch. On Sept. 20, 1958, Rita was united in marriage to Lee Lemke in Wheaton, Illinois. She loved flowers and gardening. Rita also loved animals of all kinds, especially horses. She showed Arabian horses for many years in many different venues and was a member of the Arabian Horse Society, as well as the Wisconsin Desert Horse Association. Over the years, she grew attached to many of the animals in her life but had a special place in her heart for her Boston terrier, Princess. Rita was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano where she was involved with Zion Lutheran Church Women and Dorcas Circle. She was also an active member of the Shawano Women’s Club.

Rita is survived by her husband of 61 years, Lee; her children, Lee (Leslie) Lemke, of Georgia, Gregory (Diane) Lemke, of Pennsylvania, Mark (Gwen) Lemke, of Waunakee, Kenneth (Patty) Lemke, of Illinois, Phyllis (James) Volanti, of Florida, and Dwight (Susan) Lemke, of Cecil; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mollie, two brothers, Blaise and Neal; and her grandson, Michael.

A memorial service for Rita will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano with the Rev. Scott Ludford officiating. Inurnment will be in Graceland Cemetery in Clintonville. Visitation will be held at the church Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Thomas Charles Schweitzer

Thomas Charles Schweitzer, 86, of Shawano, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at his home. He was born Dec. 9, 1932, in West Allis to the late Walter and Eleanor (Meisenhimer) Schweitzer. Thomas was united in marriage to Delores Barbian on June 14, 1952, in Milwaukee. Delores preceded Thomas in death Oct. 12, 2015. Thomas served his country proudly in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1954. In his free time, he was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to be outdoors.

Thomas is survived by his children, Linda (Randall) Contant, of Lake Geneva, Patricia (Michael) Zellmer, of Costa Mesa, California, John (Tammy) Schweitzer, of Mayville, David (Linda) Schweitzer, of Horicon, James Schweitzer, of Shawano, and Diane (Allen) Hartwig, of Clintonville; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren with two more on the way; and a sister-in-law, Delores Gill of Milwaukee. He is further survived by other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Delores; his parents, Walter and Eleanor; two brothers, Richard Schweitzer and Robert Schweitzer; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Katherine and Edward Barbian; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Barbian, Clifford Barbian and James Barbian; and sister-in-law, Joan Barbian.

Private family services were held. Inurnment will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Milwaukee.

Nancy Shannon

Nancy Shannon, 82, of Shawano, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2019, at The Cottages. Nancy was born May 16, 1937, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to the late Vernon and Eleanore (Barrett) Tapelt. Nancy graduated from South High School in Minneapolis and was united in marriage to Gordon Shannon on Aug. 6, 1955, in Minneapolis. She was a United States Air Force wife for 8½ years. Nancy was very family oriented, always remembering everyone’s birthdays, and she loved the precious time that she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She spent her free time enjoying the blooming flowers, gardening, taking walks and bowling in her younger years. Nancy enjoyed road trips with family and friends and especially enjoyed her many trips to Door County. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed.

She was survived by her husband, Gordon; her children, Laura (Tom) Naeyaert, of Shawano, Mike Shannon, of Green Bay, Jerry Shannon, of Minneapolis, and Colleen (Joe Smet) Ebert, of Shawano; four grandchildren, Neal Naeyaert, Jordan Reinke, Alyssa (Tyler) Grundman and Rachel Ebert; great-granddaughter, Audrey Naeyaert; siblings, Mary Jo Janke, of Minnesota, Vernon (Olivia) Tapelt, of Minnesota, Tom (Diana) Tapelt, of Minnesota, Charles (Sylvia) Tapelt, of Minnesota, David (Patty Locke) Tapelt, of Minnesota, Melanie (Carlos Balibrera) Tapelt, of Minneapolis, and Maureen (Clint) Glazner, of Black Creek. Nancy is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Eleanore.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano. Inurnment was held in Woodlawn Cemetery.

If roses grow in heaven, Lord, please pick a bunch for me. Place them in my sweet Nancy’s arms and tell her they’re from me. Anita Edna Wallace, 83, of Shawano, passed away Monday, July 15, 2019, at Paiser’s Oakhaven in Shawano. Anita was born Aug. 17, 1935, in the Town of Grant, Shawano County, to the late Vern and Agnes (Brandenburg) Poppendorf. She graduated from Marion High School in 1953 and on May 18, 1957, Anita was united in marriage to Charles R. Wallace in Marion. Charles preceded Anita in death April 4, 1994, after 37 wonderful years of marriage. Anita worked for JC Penney beginning in 1972, where she was a clerk and manager of the catalog department. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Shawano where she served on the board of deacons and taught Sunday school. Anita was also very involved in the 4-H program in the community and had a passion for researching genealogy. She was an avid fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers and was a season ticket holder for the Packers for many years. More than anything, Anita loved spending time with her beloved family.

Anita is survived by her children, Michael (Kelly) Wallace, of Milwaukee, Kathryn (Tim) Lohmiller, of Shawano, Jim Wallace, of Shawano, and David (Liz) Wallace, of Shawano; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mava Laursen, of Osseo. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her parents, Vern and Agnes; and a brother, Richard, in infancy.

Funeral services for Anita will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2019, at First Presbyterian Church in Shawano with the Rev. Josh Palmer, Anita’s grandson-in-law, officiating. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery in the Town of Dupont in Waupaca County. Visitation will be held at the church Thursday from 4 p.m. until the time of service.

J. Kent Anderson

J. Kent Anderson passed away Monday, July 8, 2019, at his home in Shawano, at the age of 75. Kent was born Nov. 15, 1943, in Shawano, the eldest son of the late Olen and Dottie (Druckrey) Anderson. Kent graduated from Shawano High School and received his college degree from Parsons College in Iowa.

After graduation, Kent aided his country by enlisting in the Army, serving in Vietnam. To a regular guy, Kent’s service in the Army during the Vietnam War would have been enough. Kent chose to further serve his country by enlisting, serving and retiring after a 20-year career in the U.S. Air Force. During his military career, Kent was stationed throughout the United States and around the world. Kent was a member and commander of the American Legion, a member of the VFW, a member of Voiture 40 et 8, a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America and a lay minister at St. James Lutheran Church. After retirement, as the loving and devoted son that he was, Kent was always there to lend a hand to his parents. Kent truly loved his family, his church and his country.

Kent is survived by his sister, Kristy, and her husband Thomas Meyer; his brother, Kim, and his wife Peggy Anderson; his niece, Lexie Anderson, and her daughter, Aria.

Kent was preceded in death by his parents.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Duwane C. Pieper

Duwane C. Pieper, 91, of Shawano, passed away late Friday, July 12, 2019, at ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano, with her family by her side.

Duwane was born June 17, 1928, in the Town of Belle Plaine, the daughter of the late Walter and Ida (Kriewaldt) Mehlhorn. She attended country grade school through the eighth grade. On Jan. 29, 1949, she was married to Martin Pieper at St. Martin Lutheran Church. Throughout the years, she helped out on their farm, but nothing was more important than raising and taking care of their seven children.

Duwane was a longtime member of St. Jakobi Lutheran Church. She served for many years with the Ladies Aid and attended Bible study quite frequently. Over the years, you could always find Duwane playing cards with one of the many different groups she played with.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Gerald Pieper, Diane (James) Peterson, Donna (special friend Henry Hensel) Anker, James (special friend Joann Prey) Pieper, Darlene (David) Hoffman, Martin (Martha) Pieper Jr., and Richard (special friend Emma Knope) Pieper; grandchildren, Joseph, Jonathon and Jennifer Pieper, Jeffrey, Timothy and Jeremy Peterson, Cindy Cerveny, Caryn and Stephanie Hoffman, Melissa Golz, Michelle Gollubske and Matthew Pieper; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin; her grandson, Christopher Anker; great-granddaughter, Kierstan Anker; her daughter-in-law, Gloria Pieper; her stepfather, Louis Beyer; and her four brothers, Wallace, Elton, Arnold and Fredrick Mehlhorn.

Funeral services for Duwane C. Pieper will be held Friday, July 19, 2019, at 11 a.m. at St. Jakobi Lutheran Church, Town of Richmond. Pastor John Eyer will officiate. Burial will take place in the St. Jakobi Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church Friday beginning at 10 a.m. and continue until the time of service.

Donald A. Ford, 81, of the Town of Wescott, Shawano, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening, July 12, 2019.

Don was born Jan. 18, 1938, in Oconomowoc, a son of the late Rex and Isabel (Kerr) Ford. He attended school in Hartland, graduating from Hartland Arrowhead High School. Following school, Don went to work as a heavy equipment operator with his father’s business. On May 9, 1959, he was united in marriage to the former Lois Ehley at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Menomonee Falls. Following their marriage, the couple lived on Drummond Island, Michigan, and in West Chicago, Illinois, moving to Gresham in 1975, where they lived for 20 years. They moved to Shawano in 1995, where they have remained. Don worked at the Operators Engineers Local 150 in Illinois, and later the Operators Engineers Local 139 in Wisconsin. He was employed at Sperberg Construction and Grunewald Construction. Don retired in 2000 from Local Engineers Operators 139, and went on to drive a school bus for the high school girls’ volleyball and basketball teams.

Don is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. He liked to stay active and was instrumental in starting the Scouting program in Gresham. He coached baseball and basketball in his younger days, and he was a devoted hockey grandpa. Don enjoyed hunting and fishing. Over the years, he participated in numerous hunts for the disabled. He also spent many hours on his pontoon on the Wolf River and Shawano Lake.

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Lois, of Shawano; his five children, Mark (Robin) Ford, of Lunds, Pamela Ford, of Shawano, Jon (Kathy) Ford, of Buckeye, Arizona, Craig (Nancy) Ford, of Pleasant Prairie, and Bart (Nikki) Ford, of Ishpeming, Michigan; 13 grandchildren, Collin (Rachel) Ford, Remington “J.D.” Ford, Tyler and Dean Ford, Jennifer Livshin, Dillon (Dawn) Ford, Stefan, Haeden and Jaxon Ford, Kenzie (Chris) McCabe, Sierra, Nate and Mitchell Ford; his brother, Rex (Jeannette) Ford, of Hartland; his sister, Bette (Chuck) Kiepert, of Hillsboro; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Don was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Lori Ann Ford.

A memorial Mass for Donald A. Ford will be celebrated Friday, July 19, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. The Rev. Scott Valentyn will be the celebrant. Visitation will begin at the church at 9 a.m. Friday and continue until the hour of Mass. Private family interment will take place in the Lake Drive Cemetery, Town of Wescott.

In lieu of flowers and plants, the family prefers memorials be made in Don’s name to the Disabled Hunt.

Clifford A. Powers

Clifford Anthony Powers, 85, Angelica, died peacefully surrounded by family Saturday evening, July 13, 2019, at Forest Glen in Seymour. The son of Michael and Frances (Drzewiecki) Powers was born at home in Angelica on June 2, 1934, a day when the temperature hit 104 degrees. He attended Angelica Grade School and was a 1952 graduate of Pulaski High School. He farmed with his father after high school until entering the service. Cliff enlisted and was a member of the U.S. Army, and he served in Germany with the 264th Field Artillery Battalion. He was a driver for an atomic cannon rig and had received recognition as Soldier of the Month.

Cliff met his wife, Janet Eleanor Runge, at a bowling match between her women’s team from Menasha and his men’s team from Pulaski at Lakewoods Lanes in Neenah in March 1963. Both were fairly good bowlers at the time. The couple was married Jan. 4, 1964, at Sacred Heart Church in Sherwood. It was said that Cliff and Janet were a good team and did almost everything together. Together, they purchased his father’s farm in 1964.

Cliff received the 1968 Shawano County Outstanding Young Farmer Award and was proud of his accomplishments, which included having an all-registered Holstein herd of cows. The family planted and sold sweet corn in front of their home in Angelica for 31 years. A lifelong member of Assumption BVM Parish in Pulaski, Cliff served on the school board for the parish school. He was also a member of the Pulaski Chase Co-op Board of Directors, the Pulaski community schools board of education, Town of Angelica supervisor and a member of the Shawano County Board of Supervisors.

He is survived by his wife, Janet, and their children: Jeanine (Karl) Zornow, Kaukauna, Glenn (Kelly) Powers, Portland, Oregon, and Scott (Anne) Powers, Angelica. He enjoyed going to his children’s and grandchildren’s activities and events. His favorite quote: “Take time; make time. There might not be another time.” His grandchildren, Morgan and Mitchell Powers, Vincent, Anthony, Francis and Edward Zornow, and Evan and Ali Powers will miss him very much. He is further survived by a brother-in-law: Denis (Carol) Runge, Combined Locks, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cliff was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers: Gerald (Dolores and Irene) Powers and Jack (Leatrice) Powers.

Friends are invited to gather with the family at Marnocha Funeral Home, Pulaski, on Friday, July 26, from 4-7 p.m. The parish wake service will take place at 6:30 p.m. The visitation continues at Assumption BVM Church, 119 E. Pulaski St., Pulaski, from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, July 27. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., the Rev. Patrick Gawrylewski, O.F.M. presiding, followed by military honors by the Pulaski Area Veterans. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery in Angelica.

Memorials may be made to Assumption BVM School.

Albert L. Gschwind

Albert L. “Al” Gschwind, 69, of Cecil, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2019, at Aurora BayCare Health Center in Green Bay.

Al was born on March 10, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Sam and Doris (Peters) Gschwind. He attended and graduated from Lake View High School. On July 12, 1969, he married the former Jeanette Griangrego in Jefferson, North Carolina. Al drove a semi for over 35 years, mostly heavy equipment. He then bought and sold heavy machinery on his own. Al enjoyed raising his beef cattle and tending to his horses. He also loved attending auctions, and getting a good deal when he could.

Survivors include his loving wife of just over 50 years, Jeanette, of Cecil; two sons, Tom Gschwind, of Mattoon, and Jerry Gschwind, of Cecil. Al was preceded in death by his brothers, Sam, John, and Tom Gschwind.

In keeping with Al’s wishes, he will be cremated and no formal services will be held.

Joyce B. Buss, 86, of Plover, formerly of Leopolis, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, in Stevens Point. Joyce was born on Aug. 4, 1932, in Egg Harbor, to the late Edward and Lillian (DuQuaine) Carmody. She attended Gibraltar High School in Fish Creek. She was united in marriage on May 10, 1952, in Baileys Harbor, to George Sidoff. George preceded Joyce in death after 28 years of marriage. On July 17, 1987, Joyce was united in marriage to James “Jim” Buss at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Milwaukee. Jim preceded Joyce in death on June 17, 1997, after nearly 10 years of marriage. Joyce was a member of St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover. She lived in Milwaukee for many years while working for the Milwaukee School District as a Cook. After retiring in 1988, she moved to Leopolis, where she was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and lived for nearly 30 years before moving to Plover in 2017.

Joyce is survived by her sons, Greg (Karen) Sidoff, of Amhurst, and James Buss, of Milwaukee; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Arlene Giljohann, of Cedarburg. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, George Sidoff; her second husband, Jim Buss; her parents, Edward and Lillian; one brother; and two sisters.

Funeral service for Joyce will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 22, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Leopolis. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Arlington Park Cemetery in Milwaukee.

Rita was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano where she was involved with Zion Lutheran Church Women and Dorcas Circle. She was also an active member of the Shawano Women’s Club.

Rita is survived by her husband of 61 years, Lee; her children, Lee (Leslie) Lemke, of Georgia, Gregory (Diane) Lemke, of Pennsylvania, Mark (Gwen) Lemke, of Waunakee, Kenneth (Patty) Lemke, of Illinois, Phyllis (James) Volanti, of Florida, and Dwight (Susan) Lemke, of Cecil; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mollie, two brothers, Blaise and Neal; and her grandson, Michael.

A memorial service for Rita will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano with the Rev. Scott Ludford officiating. Inurnment will be in Graceland Cemetery in Clintonville. Visitation will be held at the church Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Roger A. Wood

Roger Alan Wood, 74, of the Town of Lessor, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, with his family by his side. Roger was born in Chicago on Aug. 9, 1944, son of the late Casmier “Casey” and Cecelia (Matczak) Wood. Following high school Roger served his country honorably in the United States Army National Guard. On Oct. 16, 1965, he was united in marriage to Audrey Luepke at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel. Roger worked for Bonduel Pickle Company, Milwaukee Cheese Company, Vlasic (Campbells Soup Company) and McKeefry and Sons before retiring in 2007. After retirement, he enjoyed driving the casino tour bus and he continued working as a consultant and thoroughly enjoyed his consulting trips that took him to Mexico. He was a member of the Lions Club and the American Legion. A hardworking, strong, very intelligent man, Roger was like MacGyver to his family and friends; he could fix or create just about anything. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards, his trips to Hawaii; and he treasured his many hunting seasons with his family and his buddies. He also enjoyed working in his yard, growing roses and cutting his lawn (sometimes the neighbors’ lawns, too). Roger was a true family man at heart. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Roger is survived by his wife of 53 years, Audrey; his four children, Wendi (Tim) Vanden Brook, of Bonduel, Kristin (Aaron) Winegarden, of Oconto Falls, Holli (Robert) Wood-Ossman, of Krakow, and Shane (Maria Ullmer) Wood, of Town of Chase; 12 grandchildren, Wyatt, Kody, Trey, Alexandria, Michaela, Riley, Cole, Caden, Rebeka, Spencer, Drew, and Gianna; one great grandson, Brennan; two brothers, Wayne (Gina) Wood and Charles “Chuck” (Sandy) Wood; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Pat McGivern, Larry and Jane Luepke, Betty Dehn, Karen and Dennis Stoltenow, Lana and Steve Reinke. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by: a grandson, Justin; his parents, Casey and Cecelia; two sisters, Lois McGivern and Donna Wood; his mother and father-in-law, Alfred and Violet Luepke; a brother-in-law, Jerry Dehn; and a sister-in-law, Rochelle Luepke.

A funeral service for Roger will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel with the Rev. Mark Palmer officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Bonduel American Legion. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

Irene C. Wanta

Irene C. Wanta, 84, of Clintonville, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at Greentree Health and Rehabilitation Center, Clintonville.

The former Irene Cecelia Ploeger was born on May 22, 1935, in the Town of Elderon, Marathon County, to James and Cecilia (Verkuilen) Ploeger. She was united in marriage on June 12, 1954, to William M. Wanta at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wittenberg. The couple lived in Galloway and moved to Tigerton in 1977; they settled in Clintonville in 1992. In her early years, she was a seasonal worker at the Vlasic Pickle Company in Bonduel. Irene also cooked and drove bus for some years for the Head Start Program in Wittenberg and Tigerton. More importantly, she was a homemaker who was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother. Her husband preceded her in death on March 1, 2006. Irene is a former member of St. Joseph in Galloway and St. Anthony in Tigerton; and is currently a member of St. Rose Church in Clintonville.

Family was always number one whether it was spending time with her children, grandchildren, or siblings. Irene enjoyed dancing, listening to polka music, playing cards, baking and sewing. Irene was also an incredible cook, known best for her wonderful homemade chicken soup. She also liked going up north fishing in the Rolling Stone and Pickerel Lake areas. In her later years, she loved coloring, winning at Yahtzee, and reading the obituaries in the newspaper.

Survivors include seven children, Pat (Bob) Laurent, Cheryl (Herb) Pehlke, Linda Wanta, Mike (Carri) Wanta, Mary Tullberg, Michelle (Ron) Olson and Julie (special friend Terry Quaintance) Fry. There are 27 grandchildren, Brian, David, Jeremy, Amanda, Wayne, Paul, Tim, Ryan, Dan, Brandon, Nathaen, Colby, Loghan, Josh M., Jason, Chris, Kyle, Karl, Dalton, Jasmine, Austin, Dylan, Brianna, Josh F., Elizabeth, Jacob and Brayden. She is further survived by 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ann Cayo; two sisters-in-law, Diane Ploeger and Betty Wanta; two brothers-in-law, Gerald (fiancée Pat Kriesel) Wanta Sr. and Robert (Delores) Wanta; and many other relatives and friends.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William Sr., son William Jr., daughter Renee Meyer, infant grandson Alex, daughter-in-law Laura Wanta, son-in-law Michael Fry, and infant great granddaughter Hope Malueg. She is further preceded by a sister Marie (Edmund) Rzentkowski; and three brothers Jerry, Donald, and James (Regina) Ploeger.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 22 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church in Clintonville. The Rev. Timothy Shillcox, O. Praem, will officiate and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at Beil-Didier Funeral Home in Clintonville, and on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at the church.

Marjorie J. Gretzinger, 89, of the Town of Waukechon, Shawano County, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 21, 2019, at the Maple Lane Health Care Center in the Town of Belle Plaine, Shawano County.

Marjorie Jean Danley was born on March 8, 1930, in Clintonville. Daughter to the late Silas S. and Martha E. (Carlson) Danley. She was raised in Clintonville and later married to Frank J. Gretzinger on Sept. 27, 1947. They had a large dairy farm and raised Christmas trees. Marjorie loved her time in the kitchen and keeping a home while she raised her 11 children and granddaughter. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters, Sharon Gretzinger, Shawano, and Kathy (Tom) Magee, Clintonville; her sons, Bob (Pam) Gretzinger, Clintonville, Frank Gretzinger Jr. (special friend Sarah “Lynn” Amundson), Pulaski, Eugene (Tammie) Gretzinger, David (Debbie) Gretzinger, Donnie (Melody) Gretzinger, Rodney (Maranita) Gretzinger, Todd Gretzinger and Tim Gretzinger, all of Shawano, and Roy (Sharon Green Gretzinger) Gretzinger, Leopolis; 24 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, John Garofalo; amd sisters-in-law: Marcella Gretzinger and Delores Danley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank, on June 1, 2011; a grandson, Jeff Gretzinger, sisters, Blanche Garofalo and Donna Mae Schimmelphenning; a brother, Clarence Danley; a brother-in-law, Earl Schimmelphenning; and a grandson-in-law, Justin Kleczka.

Marjorie’s funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2019, at the Calvary Apostolic Church in Clintonville with the Rev. Leslie Dunn officiating. Interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery in Clintonville. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
