Roy R. Ziemer

Roy Robert Ziemer, 79, Suamico, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017. He was born on Oct. 17, 1937, in Shawano, the son of the late Fred and Lulubell (Marohl) Ziemer.

After graduation from Shawano High School, Roy enlisted in the U.S. Army. He spent three years on active duty, two of which were spent in Okinawa, Japan, and was honorably discharged. Roy attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering from which he graduated with honors with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Roy was an electrical engineer for Wisconsin Public Service Corporation for 34 years until his retirement in 2001.

On Oct. 24, 1970, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Beyer in Shawano. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, where he served as a greeter, usher and was on the counting team. Roy was an avid sportsman, participating on many softball and bowling teams over the years until he couldn’t run anymore. He also enjoyed golf, trap, camping and snowmobiling.

Roy was a charter member of the Howard-Suamico Lions Club, on the planning commission for the village of Howard and a member of Mensa. Roy loved to dance, usually clearing the dance floor with his swift moves. He loved to travel, with the grandest being his retirement celebration trip to Australia, and enjoyed cruising with the Bay Classic and Custom Car Club.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn, Suamico; children, Dena (Scott) Klaus, Kenric (Kari) Ziemer and Jeffrey Scott from his previous marriage; four wonderful grandchildren, Tanner and Kennedy Klaus, Zoe and Eian Ziemer; brothers, Roger (Sue) Ziemer and Jim Ziemer; in-laws, Dave (Nancy) Beyer, Judy (Ralph) Laine and Bruce (Holly) Beyer; godchildren, Danny Ziemer, Mindy McGaha and Troy Beyer; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Elmer and Madeline Beyer; sister, Mary Ann Aschenbrenner; sister-in-law, Marsha “Sue” Ziemer; and brother-in-law, Dean Beyer.

Family and friends may call at the Pfotenhauer Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Howard-Suamico location, 1145 Cardinal Lane, on Friday, June 30, 2017, from 4-7 p.m. and on Saturday at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1167 Kenwood St., Green Bay, from 10-11 a.m. Funeral service 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor John Parlow officiating.

Maynard R. Peterman

Maynard R. Peterman, 81, of Seymour, formerly of Black Creek, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017.

Born on Oct. 4, 1935, in the town of Angelica, Maynard was the son of the late Rudolph and Hattie (Specht) Peterman. After his 18th birthday, Maynard enlisted in the United States Army and served his country in Korea for two years before receiving his honorable discharge.

On Oct. 20, 1956, Maynard was united in marriage to Carol La Crosse in Algoma. Maynard worked as a farmer and a truck driver and in his free time enjoyed bowling, playing cards, fishing, and spending time up north at his cabin.

Maynard is survived by his children, Sharon (Bobbi Hansen) Haws, of Green Bay, and Richard (Candyce) Peterman, of Cecil; grandchildren, Matthew Haws, Lisa Ashman and Brandon Ashman; two sisters, Mavis Stark and Lois (Roger) Nelson; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; a daughter, Kathleen Peterman; a granddaughter, Ashley Haws; his parents; and a brother-in-law, Earl Stark.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2017, at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Black Creek with the Rev. Theodore Henricks officiating. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 332 at the church following the service. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum at Nicolet Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the Swedberg Wendt Funeral Home in Bonduel on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. and again at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

Harold W. Hendricks

Harold W. Hendricks, 89, of Bonduel, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family. Harold was born May 2, 1928, in De Pere, son of the late Antone and Wilhemina (Van Lanen) Hendricks.

On Oct. 2, 1952, Harold was united in marriage to Rosalie Hermus at St. John’s Catholic Church in Seymour. Together the couple raised seven children. Harold enjoyed working in farming, milk hauling, trucking and excavating throughout his life. He was a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Cecil, where he volunteered as an usher, and the Knights of Columbus. He was a fourth degree knight and was the chairman of the Special Olympics council. He was also a volunteer fireman for the Hobart Fire Department for several years.

In his free time, Harold enjoyed playing cards, playing the accordion and working on small engines. He loved the special time he spent hunting with his brothers, sons and grandsons. He truly loved his family and cherished the time he was able to spend with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Harold was a “wonderful” husband, father and grandfather, and will be deeply missed by his friends and his family.

Harold leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Rose; seven children, Chris (Deb Jenquine) Hendricks, of De Pere, Vicki (Howard) Paape, of De Pere, Sue (Paul) Heyrman of Bonduel, Mark Hendricks, of Green Bay, Kim (Stuart) Sorenson, of Bonduel, Cary (Lori) Hendricks, of De Pere, and Kurt (Joan Van De Wettering) Hendricks, of Pulaski; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; siblings, Orville (Evelyn) Hendricks, of Oneida, and Eleanore (Dan) Gauthier, of Texas; two sisters-in- law, Mary Lou Hendricks, of De Pere, and Evelyn Hermus, of Kimberly; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Marie Peters, Henrietta Christensen, Wilbert Hendricks, Norbert Hendricks and Rita Boyea.

A Funeral Mass for Harold will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2017, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Cecil with the Rev. David Barrett and Deacon Mike Grezca officiating. Entombment will be in Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum in Green Bay. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

Alfred P. “Fred” Zander, 87, of Port Edwards, formerly of Shawano, passed away to his heavenly home with his family by his side on Saturday, June 24, 2017, at the Edgewater Haven Care Center in Port Edwards.

Fred was born on Oct. 22, 1929, in Bowler, a son of the late Richard and Elsie (Plagemann) Zander. On Sept. 24, 1949, he was united in marriage to the former Adeline “Addy” Raasch.

Fred started his career at Badger Breeders in Shawano, then went to work for Surge Dairy Equipment. In the late 1950s, he worked for the Shawano County police department as a traffic officer. Fred returned to Badger Breeders (aka 21st Century Genetics) until his retirement in 1989.

Fred was a man with many interests, including hunting, fishing, golfing, grilling out, shooting pool, boating, listening to polka and country music, and playing cards, but his favorite pastime was bowling. He was one of the original owners of Lakeshore Lanes in Shawano. Fred also served as president of the Shawano Bowling Association from 1981-1985. He was awarded the Shawano Bowling Association Meritorious Service Award, and in 1986 was inducted into the Shawano Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Fred bowled with the Shawano and Bonduel leagues, and also traveled with ABC tournaments where he bowled all over the United States.

He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church of Shawano where he served on the board of elders for the church. He was also involved with the Shawano Jaycees and served as president. Fred served as town supervisor for the town of Wescott for four terms before becoming town chairman. He was also a member of the Toast Masters Club.

Fred enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Canada. He and Addy lived on Shawano Lake, which is where they raised their family, and wintered in Fort Myers, Florida.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Carrie Zander (Ferlin “Chip”) McKay, of Rudolph, and Nancy Zander Jaro (Gary) Jaroszewski, of Green Bay; his grandchildren, Matthew Long, Andrew (Kirsten) Long, Ryan (Maria) McKay and Erin (Jon Wilson) McKay; his great-grandchildren, Nick, Aidan, David, William, Jayda and Zakary Long, Grace, Cameron McKay, and Jase and Everly Wilson; his nephews, Richard (Cindy) Raasch, Brian Raasch, Bruce Zander and John Zander; and many other relatives and friends.

Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Addy, on Nov. 8, 2014; his parents; his brothers, Marvin and Richard Jr.; and his nephew, the Rev. Glenn Zander.

A memorial service for Alfred P. “Fred” Zander will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Mickelson Funeral Service in Shawano. The Rev. Dr. Timm Griffin will officiate. Inurnment will take place at Lake Drive Cemetery in the town of Wescott. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.

Bernhard E. Stuewer Sr.

Bernhard Evan Stuewer Sr., 81, of South Branch, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, in Shawano. Born in the town of How on Nov. 4, 1935, Bernhard is the son of the late Gerhard and Leola (Lyons) Stuewer.

On Nov. 10, 1956, Bernhard was united in marriage to Hazel M. Johnson in South Branch. Hazel preceded Bernie in death on April 20, 2017. The couple lived in the Fond du Lac area for over 30 years before returning to South Branch after Bernie’s 2002 retirement from Giddings and Lewis, where he worked for over 25 years.

Bernie enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching football. He loved his family dearly and loved spending time with them, particularly his grandchildren.

Bernie is survived by his children, Bernhard (Sandy) Stuewer Jr., of Fond du Lac, Alice (Darvin) Rickert, of Oakfield, Gerhard (Cindy) Stuewer, of Omro, and Joseph (Jeannie) Stuewer, of New Holstein; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; his sister, Luretta Wilber, of Hayes; as well as two brothers-in-law, Robert Johnson, of Suring, and Frederick Johnson, of Green Bay; and his sister-in law, Jill (Paul Marroquin) Johnson, of Suring. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Hazel; his parents; two sisters, Hilda (Dalton) Heimerman and Violet (LaVern) Hinkfus; brothers-in-law, Gene Wilber and Jack Johnson; and sisters-in-law, Crystal (Carl) Kaquatosh, Chantel Johnson, Esther Johnson and Marilyn Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2017, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Keshena with the Rev. Joel Jores officiating. Entombment will be in the Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery in Fond du Lac. Visitation will be held at the Father Dave Barret Hall on Sunday, July 2, 2017, from 3-9 p.m. and again at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. A parish wake service will be held at the hall at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2017.

James J. Letter, 85, passed away June 17, 2017, at his home in Green Bay after a short illness.

He was married on Oct. 16, 1954, to Bernice Huss at St. Nicholas in Freedom.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice; six daughters, Deborah (Leon) Polzin, Cecil, Dorothy (Roger) De Guelle, Green Bay, Diane (Kevin) Van Lanenn, Seymour, Carol (Craig) Paap, Gillett, Rita (Don) Skalecki, Pulaski, and Doris (Steve) Jaroz, Howard; one son-in-law, Gary Lasecki, Lena; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-stepgrandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Ruth Lasecki, and one infant grandson, Steven Lasecki.

Private services will be held July 3.

Robert Lloyd “Bob” Seehafer, 81, of Shawano, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017, in Shawano.

Bob was born in Shawano on Nov. 22, 1935, the son of the late Alvis and Magdeline (Bowan) Seehafer. He proudly served our country in the Air Force. After his honorable discharge in 1958 from the Air Force, he served in the Naval Reserves. Bob was a life member of the AMVETS Post 10, where he also served on the color guard. On June 23, 1990, Bob was united in marriage to Diane (Koehler) Geringer at St. James Lutheran Church.

Bob retired from Warvel Products in Gillett. He was an avid Packers, Brewers and Badgers fan and enjoyed going to the casino, sign-ins and spending time with his family.

Bob is survived by his wife, Diane; five daughters, Jamie Seehafer, Dawn Wheeler, Bobbi Johnson, Joey (Jody) Seehafer and Tina (Nathan) Geringer; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his brother, Jim (Nancy) Seehafer; two sisters, Mary (Dale) Belongia and Margaret (Gene) Debouche; four sisters-in-law, Nancy Koehler, Shirley (Randy) Hacker, Sharon (Rick) Nuske and Terri (Tom) Watters; one brother-in-law, Wayne (Scarlett) Koehler; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dave Seehafer; his mother-in-law and father-in-law; and two brothers-in-law.

Funeral services for Bob will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, July 3, 2017, at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano with the Rev. Dr. Timm Griffin officiating. Military honors will be conducted at the church by the AMVETS Post 10 following the service. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service.

Dorothy J. (Heinz) Laehn, of De Pere, was called to her eternal resting place on July 1, 2017.

Dorothy was born on Jan. 12, 1933, in Shawano to Paul and Colette (Spitzer) Heinz. She graduated from Shawano High School, Class of 1951.

On Dec. 30, 1952, Dorothy was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart. Charles Laehn. at Sacred Heart Church in Shawano. Dorothy was an active member of the Redbirds Couples bridge club. In Dorothy’s free time, she loved to garden, working on her computer, shopping, taking trips to Florida, cooking, baking and being with family.

While raising a family of five, Dorothy attended Green Bay Business College, which resulted with a position at Bellin Hospital as a data processor/computer operator. She retired from there after 25 years.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Charles, De Pere; son, Gregory Laehn, Green Bay; daughter, Joan Laehn, Green Bay; daughter, Ann (Todd) Forseth, Suamico; son, Joseph Laehn, Green Bay; daughter, Catherine (Gary) Adkins, Howard; grandchildren, Taylor Laehn, Spencer Laehn, Connor Laehn, Erika Schweiner, Brittany Forseth, Brooke Forseth, Tory Adkins, Tara Adkins; great-grandchildren, Rohin, Roselette and Kinsley; sibilings, sister, Shirley (Heinz) Hertz; brother, Paul (Mildred) Heinz; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, Paul Heinz; mother, Colette (Spitzer) Heinz; sister and brother-in-law, David and Colette (Heinz) Thompson; brother-in-law, Howard Hertz; granddaughter, Tessa Gen Schweiner; and niece, Mary Thompson.

Dr. Franklyn T. Bergmann, also known as Tom, 81, of Shawano, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 1, 2017.

Tom was born on July 13, 1935, in Madison, to Franklyn and Pauline (Kundert) Bergmann. A graduate of Madison West High School, Tom entered medical school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. That is where he met his future wife, Kathleen (Urick) Bergmann. They were united in marriage on June 16, 1956. Upon completing his medical residency, Tom entered the Air Force Medical Corps and honorably served his country. Upon completing his military commitment, he settled in Shawano and established his private medical practice.

As a general practitioner, Tom provided internal medicine, family, surgical and obstetrical care for over 30 years to the Shawano and surrounding communities as a member of the Marsh, Cantwell-Peterson and Theda Care Clinics. Keeping his black medical bag nearby, Tom was always available to assist his family, neighbors and community at large. Former patients remember him as the doctor they loved or “the doctor who delivered me.”

Tom enjoyed many hobbies and interests, especially outdoor activities. Known as “Bergie” to his close friends, he enjoyed many boating and snowmobile excursions. However, his greatest joy was sharing fishing and tubing experiences with his family, bicycling with his grandchildren to the local ice cream shop, and showing off his model railroad and sailing ships. A lifelong Packers and Badgers fan, he spent many weekends cheering on his favorite teams.

Tom had a great sense of humor and will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved spending time with his family, which included many beloved canine companions and ensured that they were well taken care of.

Tom is survived by his wife of 61 years, Kathleen; his son and daughter, Tom (Lisa) Bergmann, of Shawano, and Christine (Brett) Helgeson, of Shorewood, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren, Chase Bergmann, Bailey (Erich) Steger, Christian Bergmann, Bethany (Aidan) Durie, Hannah Bergmann, Sarah Bergmann, Joshua Bergmann, Daniel Bergmann, Caroline Bergmann, Ryan Helgeson, Benjamin Helgeson and Marianna Helgeson; and one great-grandchild, Ella Durie.

A private family ceremony will be held at a future date with Pastor Joel Smith officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Delores E. Bogda Schmeisser

Delores E. Bogda Schmeisser, 90, of Shawano, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, in Appleton.

Delores was born in the town of Seneca, Shawano County, on Feb. 8, 1927, to the late Joe P. and Frances (Kort) Aschenbrenner. On May 12, 1951, Delores was united in marriage to Ferdinand Bogda. She worked at the Shawano Red Owl as a checkout clerk and retired in 1979. In 1981, she and Ferdinand moved to Pickeral Lake. He preceded her in death on April 28, 1994.

Delores moved back to Shawano, and on Sept. 19, 1997, she was united in marriage to Ralph Schmeisser. He preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 2015.

Delores was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano.

Delores is survived by her son, Lee Bogda, of Shawano; two stepdaughters, Beverly Merath, of Green Bay, and Lynn (Jim) Spiegel, of Shawano. She is further survived by three sisters, Jean (Carl) Theil, Sharon (Marvin) Herman and Germaine Tischauser.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ferdinand and Ralph; her parents,; one brother, Bob Aschenbrenner; and one sister, Arlene Schmeisser.

Memorial services for Delores will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017, at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano with the Rev. Dr. Timm Griffin officiating. Inurnment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services.

Memorials may be directed to St. James Lutheran Church or St. James Lutheran School.

Marvin F. Hesse

Marvin F. Hesse, 92, of Ripon, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 11, 2017, at Fountain View Care Center in Ripon.

Marvin was born on Jan. 19, 1925, in Shawano, a son of the late Louis and Amanda (Koehler) Hesse. He graduated from Shawano High School in 1943 and three days later was drafted into the armed forces. Marvin served his country from 1943-1946 in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was stationed in New Guinea.

Following the war, Marvin lived in Victoria, Texas, working as a bookkeeper while enjoying the warmth he had grown accustomed to in the Pacific. He adopted many of the Texas customs: cowboy boots, western shirts, blue jeans, the accent, phrases and, most of all, the southern charm. He frequently came back to visit his family, and all the Wisconsin relatives thoroughly enjoyed his visits.

In his later years, Marvin returned to Wisconsin and resided in Shawano. He spent the last 15 years in Ripon at Russell Manor apartments and made many good friends there. He enjoyed crafting, making floral arrangements, playing the organ, decorating for the holidays (especially Christmas) and loved to dance (which incidentally kept him from becoming a minister!).

Marvin is survived by his sister, Ruth Koehler, of Springfield, Illinois; his sister-in-law, Shirley Hesse, of Milwaukee; his good friend, Gene; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Reuben (Leona) Hesse, Lloyd (Mildred) Hesse, Oscar (Margaret) Hesse, Louis (Eileen) Hesse and Bobbie Hesse; his infant brothers, Carl and William Hesse; his twin sister, Marion (Ervin) Pludeman; and his brother-in-law, Gil Koehler.

Per his wishes, a memorial service for Marvin F. Hesse will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Mickelson Funeral Service in Shawano. Inurnment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Full military honors will be conducted by Shawano AMVETS Post 10. Relatives and friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Louis E. Beilfuss, 99, of Bonduel, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017, in Shawano.

Born in Bonduel on Dec. 19, 1917, Louis was the son of the late William and Lydia (Peterman) Beilfuss. On June 23, 1951, Louis was united in marriage to Geraldine Kroenke at St. Paul Lutheran Church-Stony Hill. Geraldine preceded him in death on May 7, 2007. He lived in Shawano County all his life, working as a dairy farmer in the town of Waukechon and at Shawano Equity.

Louis was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church and enjoyed deer hunting. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Louis is survived by two daughters, Sally (Randy) Wenstadt, of Bonduel, and Carmen (Tom) Heling, of Shawano; one son-in-law, Jon Wenstadt; eight grandchildren, Chad (Kathy) Klosterman, Angela (Brandon) Koss, Josh (Jessica) Heling, Kevin (Ariel) Wenstadt, Dustin (Andrea) Wenstadt, Lisa (Jesse) Wenstadt, Lori (Scotty) Richter and Lindsay Wenstadt; and nine great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Austin, Camryn, Georgia, Lillie, Patiance, Serenity, Colen and Kayla.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine; one daughter, Donna Wenstadt; his parents; and three siblings, Harold, Ben and Esther.

Funeral services for Louis will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 10, 2017, at Friedens Lutheran Church with the Rev. Virgil Hanson officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Erma D. Schram

Erma D. Schram, 89, of Shawano, formerly of the town of Belle Plaine, Shawano County, passed away Monday morning, July 10, 2017, at Paiser’s Oakhaven in Shawano.

Erma was born on Sept. 6, 1927, in Wautoma as the daughter of the late Gustave and Ella (Gatz) Groskreutz. She was united in marriage to Omar Schram on Sept. 21, 1947, in Wautoma, where the couple lived on a farm prior to moving to Wittenberg in 1955. Upon Omar’s retirement in 1985 the couple moved to their retirement home on Pine Lake at the Cloverleaf Lakes in the town of Belle Plaine, Shawano County. Erma and Omar also enjoyed spending the winter months in Orlando, Florida. Omar preceded his wife in death on March 19, 2000.

Erma was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Embarrass for many years. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends in Wittenberg over the years, and in her spare time liked to cook, entertain guests, go out for dinner, crochet afghans, play cards and spend time on the lake.

Survivors include her children: Ken (Bev) Schram Sr., Aniwa, David Schram, Neenah, and Kathy (Wally) Schaub, Eagle, Colorado; grandchildren: Ken (Lisa) Schram Jr., Merrill, Kevin (Tonya) Schram, Verona, Brenda (Nick) Grams, Omro, Jill (Mike) Kessler, Green Bay, and Renee Schram, Neenah; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Austin, Hunter, Talen, Ava, Brooklyn, Ashlyn, Connor, Elijah and Elsie; also numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a very special friend, Janna Aumann.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Omar; brothers, Arden (Linda), Wilber (Ruth) and Elmer (Ruth) Groskreutz; and a sister; Verna (Vernon) Humphrey.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 13, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Embarrass with the Rev. Todd Jerabek officiating. Interment will follow at the Graceland Cemetery in Clintonville. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Lorin R. Mayer

Lorin R. Mayer, 80, of Iron River, Michigan, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017, at the Aspirus Iron River Hospital.

Lorin was born on May 24, 1937, in Green Valley, the son of the late Albert and Hilda (Regal) Mayer. He was employed as a machinist at Nor Fab for over 35 years. Lorin was a United States Army veteran. He enjoyed fishing and golfing.

Lorin is survived by his stepson, Larry (Kay) Giese, of North Carolina; a grandson, Wes Willette; brothers, Dennis (Judith) Mayer, of Abrams, and Mitchell Mayer, of Gresham.

He was preceded in death by his son, Lorin “Buddy” Randy Mayer Jr.; his daughter, Cynthia Willette; and brothers, Merlin, Raymond, Ronnie and Randy.

Private family memorial services will be held July 22, 2017, and Aug. 23, 2017, in Gresham.

Gerald H. Beier

Gerald Herbert “Jerry” Beier found peace on June 30, 2017, at the age of 92 years.

Beloved husband of the late Margaret Beier (nee Erdmann); cherished father of Barbara (Norman) Hopfensperger, Dr. Sue (Patrick) Hanratty and Gary (Kathryn) Beier; and good friend of the late Shirley DeCaluwe. Jerry leaves behind six grandchildren, Todd (Jessica) Beier, Elyse (Robert) Shaw, Jeff Beier, Sarah (Steve) Munson, Paul (Kari) Hopfensperger and Jennifer (Keith) Herm, as well as great-grandchildren, Cody, Sean Alex, Macy, Drake, Tela and Trey. He also had one great-great-granddaughter, Gracie.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert, and sister, Audrey, as well as brother-in-law, Robert Erdmann.

Jerry served his country during World War II in the Pacific theater as a master sergeant with the military police. He had a distinguished career in banking with 50 years of service to the industry, beginning with the former American City Bank where he rose from teller to vice president. He then partnered with a group of Milwaukee entrepreneurs to form University National Bank and finally completed his career as president and co-chairman of Citizens Bank of Shawano.

Mr. Beier also had a distinguished history of community and faith service. He is a past president of Ascension Lutheran Church, Milwaukee, city treasurer for the March of Dimes, past Rotarian, Kiwanis Golden K Club, Forward Wisconsin, Shawano County treasurer for the Salvation Army and member of Governor Thompson’s Highway 29 reconstruction commission along with a multitude of other community activities in both Milwaukee and Shawano. Jerry was also an active Freemason for 60 years, raised at James M. Hayes Lodge in 1956. He served as master of Shawano Lodge 170, Dousman Lodge 315 and Glenn L. Humphrey Lodge 363, and was a member of La Crosse Lodge 45. He served as thrice potent master of Wisconsin Scottish Rite-Valley of Milwaukee in 1972 and was a noble member of both Tripoli Shrine, Milwaukee, and Beja Shrine, Green Bay, where he served as president of the Shawano Shrine Club and was an avid bell-ringer for the club’s annual Salvation Army Red Kettle holiday fund drive for over 20 years.

Mr. Beier’s life personified a dedication to family, fraternity, community and his Lord.

Our special thanks to the wonderfully caring staff of Three Pillars, Wisconsin Masonic Home, which Jerry called home for over 17 years.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 16, 2017, at the Ewald Chapel in the Three Pillars Village on the Square (375 State Road 67, Dousman) from 2 p.m. until time of Masonic Service at 4 p.m. Interment will be in Arlington Memorial Park.

Doris A. Szutkowski

Doris A. Szutkowski, 94, formerly of Bowler, died on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at The Homme Home of Wittenberg.

Doris was born in Bowler on Jan. 26, 1923, the daughter of the late Arthur and Annette (Malueg) Wolter. On July 29, 1943, Doris was united in marriage to Joseph “Butch” Szutkowski at St Florian’s Catholic Church, Hatley. He preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 1993.

Doris was a faithful member of Holy Family-St. William Catholic Church and its Christian Mothers. She was a member of the Bowler Homemakers Club and worked on the village of Bowler Election Board. Doris loved gardening and especially enjoyed flower gardening. She played the organ and enjoyed local concerts.

Doris had a love of cooking for her family and friends, and enjoyed dancing with her favorite partner, her husband Butch. She instilled a love of reading in her children starting with reading the Sunday comic strips.

Survivors include one son, Joseph (Jodi) Szutkowski, Clintonville; three daughters, Carol Canfield, Medford, Susan (Richard) Onesti, Eland, and Jane (Michael) Hazen, Shawano; seven grandchildren, Angela, Amy, Rick, Rachel, Collin, Sarah and Kayla; six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Elizabeth, Kyra, Parker, Cassandra and Alexandra; and many other friends and family.

In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by her sister-in-law and five brothers-in-law.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Holy Family St. William Catholic Church, Wittenberg. The Rev. John Gallagher and Deacon Mike Brandt will officiate. Interment will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Wittenberg. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg, and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church.

Angel Lynn Marie Mendoza-Waukau, 14, of Keshena, started her journey to the Spirit World on Sunday, July 9, 2017.

Angel was born on Sept. 1, 2002, in Shawano, a daughter of Dominique Mendoza and Mark Waukau Jr. Angel just graduated from Menominee Indian Middle School.

She participated in track, wrote poetry and loved to sing. She enjoyed being around other kids.

Survivors include her parents, Dominique Mendoza and Mark Waukau Jr., both of Keshena; her brothers and sisters, Julian (Lanora) Webster, Nevada (Aliya) Webster Jr., Felix (Malissa) Webster, Marcel Waukau, Monae Waukau, Markala Waukau, Antonio Mendoza, Mark Waukau III, Saesha Waukau, Hilary Waukau and Maceo Waukau; her grandparents, Patricia Mendoza, Manuel Mendoza, Katherine White and Mark Waukau Sr.; her aunts and uncles, Beatrice Chevalier, Mary (Edward) Post, John (Francine) Chevalier, Randall Chevalier, Troy (Chanda) Kinney, Anthony (Teresa) Brown, Consuelo Brown, Manuel (Maia) Mendoza Jr., Laurie (Robert) Mendoza, Mae (Brad) Mendoza, Beatrice (Mario) Mendoza, Mary (Truman) Mendoza, Francisco (Cherilyn) Mendoza and John Mendoza.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Lilly Ann Waukau; her grandparents, Gordon and Mae Chevalier; her aunt, Kateri Mendoza; her uncle, Gordon Chevalier Jr.; and her cousin, Shawn Mendoza.

A funeral service for Angel will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017, at 1 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Neopit. The Rev. Francis Zurbano will officiate. Interment will be in the St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery in Neopit. Relatives and friends may call at the Mae Chevalier residence, N2820 Lakeview Drive, Keshena, beginning on Wednesday evening. Visitation will continue at the Chevalier residence until noon Friday when the procession leaves for church. A parish wake service will take place on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at 7 p.m. at the Chevalier residence.

In lieu of flowers and plants, the family prefers memorials in Angel’s name.
