
Lola J. Curtis, 94, of Shawano, died on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, at Shawano Health Services under the care of Heartland Hospice.
The family rejoices at the happy reunion of her and her husband of 74 years, Glenn.
Lola was born on Dec. 31, 1922, in the town of Grant, Shawano County, the daughter of the late John and Laura (Doede) Breitenfeldt. In her younger years, she was a babysitter and did most of the housework for her family. She went to Weasel Dam School and graduated in 1936. She was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Morris. She then went to live with her uncle Bill and Aunt Vivian in New London to attend high school. She then came home during the summers where she worked as a home helper and at a restaurant in Wittenberg.
Lola also worked as a surgical nurse’s aid in New London and for a short time worked at Edison Furniture Factory. On Aug. 22, 1942, Lola married Glenn Curtis at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Morris. He preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 2016. The couple enjoyed traveling and flower and vegetable gardening.
Lola is survived by three sons, Allen Curtis, of Wausau, Larry Curtis and Jay Curtis, both of Tigerton; three grandchildren, Crystal (Todd) Bishop, Douglas Curtis and Greg Curtis; and a brother, Sader Breitenfeldt, of Tigerton.
Lola was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers Hilmer and Gary.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017, at Union Cemetery in Tigerton. The Rev. John Hielsberg will officiate.
