
Spc. Naeciwat Robert Henry LaTender, 21, of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, formerly of Neopit, passed away on Dec. 22, 2016, in North Carolina.
Naeciwat was born on Nov. 19, 1995, in Green Bay to Lowell “Stan” LaTender and Wendy (Defferding) LaTender. He graduated in 2014 from Menominee Indian High School, where he was active in golf, football and wrestling. Following high school, Naeciwat enlisted in the United States Army. He enjoyed hunting, trout fishing, ice fishing and golf.
Naeciwat is survived by his mother, Wendy LaTender, of Shawano; his father, Stan LaTender, of Neopit; his siblings, Dorian (Robert Lyons) LaTender, of Keshena, Marissa (James Swenson) Perrote, of Wausau, Naneque E.J. LaTender, of Shawano, Weskenohseah Francesca Ann LaTender, of Shawano; grandparents, Dennis Defferding and Joette Wheeler; great-grandmother, Dorothy Defferding; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lowell Namakeesa LaTender and baby boy LaRock LaTender.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Neopit with the Rev. Joel Jores officiating. Full military honors will be conducted following the service.
Visitation will be held at the Neopit Community Center from 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, until the time of the service.
