
Theresa M. Young, 78, of Shawano, passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning, Feb. 5, 2018, at McCormick Assisted Living in Green Bay.
Theresa was born June 10, 1939, in Kimberly, a daughter of the late John and Ella Mary (Grode) Heidemann. She attended school in Racine and later went to a convent in Racine. Following school, she taught elementary school in Roxbury. On June 23, 1962, she was united in marriage to Ivan Young at Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Bear Creek. Theresa worked in Clintonville teaching school at St. Rose Catholic School, as well as in the public schools. The couple later moved to Oconto where she was the religious education coordinator at St. Peters in Oconto. Following Ivan’s retirement, the couple moved to Shawano, where Theresa worked at Wal-Mart until retiring in 2008.
She is a good and faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano where she was very involved in numerous activities including the annual rummage sales, Council of Catholic Women, St. Vincent DePaul Society, and the church picnic. Theresa also distributed communion to the nursing homes and served as a lector/commentator. She enjoyed painting, scrapbooking, photography, gardening, and playing cards.
Survivors include her loving husband, Ivan, of Green Bay; her children, Damian Young, of Shawano, Gemma (Joe) Niemuth, of Clintonville, Ignatius Young, of Shawano, Imelda (Matthew) Mueller, of Orlando, Florida, and Jeremy Young, of Shawano; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her sister, Irene (Ralph) Boldt, of Menasha; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
A funeral Mass for Theresa Young will be celebrated on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. The Rev. Joel Jores will be the celebrant. Entombment will be in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum. Visitation will take place at Sacred Heart on Thursday, beginning at 9 a.m.
