Gordon Gilbert Ainsworth, 91, of Bonduel, passed away, Saturday, April 9, 2016, due to complications after surgery for a broken hip.

Gordon was born on Friday, Feb. 13, 1925, to the late Henry and Pauline (DeSwarte) Ainsworth.

Gordon grew up on the Ainsworth family farm in the town of Waukechon. He started his education in the Dallman School. After graduating from Shawano High School, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural economics on the GI Bill.

On June 14, 1952, Gordon was united in marriage to Marjorie Peterman. Together they raised six strong and independent daughters on a dairy farm near Frazer Corners. In 1962, Gordon was recognized as Shawano County Outstanding Young Farmer.

Gordon served his community in many ways, including Frazer Corners School Board, board of directors of Production Credit Association, Maple Lane and Good Shepherd Health Care Centers. He also served on the Shawano County Board, was a founding member of the Shawano DHIA and was a member of the Shawano County Farm Bureau and American Legion Post 217, Bonduel. While serving on the council at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, as president for six years and treasurer for 20 years, he drew the plans for the narthex addition complete enough to be granted state approval.

After retiring from farming in 1987, Gordon and Margie moved to the new home they built in Bonduel; they were proud to have used trees from their farm for the lumber. While retired, he became a founding member of the Bonduel Archives and spent countless hours renovating a home into a legal public building to house the archives.

Gordon enjoyed woodworking, bowling, traveling and playing cards with friends, and seldom missed his Friday night fish fry. Gordon was always up for a good debate and was never afraid to tell it like it was. He will be remembered as a storyteller with a quick wit. He was a huge Badgers fan, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Swiecichowski; brother, Vernon; brothers-in-law, John Bastar and Dan Ward; as well as sisters-in-law, Janice Hill, Shirley Koehler and Audrey Ainsworth.

Gordon was an honest, hard-working man, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He always taught his girls that there was reward in an honest day’s work.

Dad, now your work is done, you have earned your reward. We will miss you. — Gordon’s girls.

Paul O. Eberhardt, 67, of Clintonville, passed away unexpectedly while at his winter home in Punta Gorda, Florida, on Thursday, April 7, 2016, of a sudden heart attack with his wife, Nancy, and numerous friends by his side.

Paul was born on Jan. 15, 1949, in Clintonville as the son of Florence (Oertel) Eberhardt and the late Roy Eberhardt. He attended St. Martin Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Clintonville High School.

Paul then went on to serve his country in the Army National Guard. He graduated from the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science and started working for his family’s funeral business, Eberhardt Funeral Home, now known as Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory in Clintonville and Marion.

On Sept. 11, 1971, Paul was united in marriage to Nancy Susa at St. Martin Lutheran Church. The couple lived in and around the Clintonville area their entire life. Paul served the Clintonville and Marion communities as a funeral director for many years. He was a caring and professional funeral director, retiring in 2002 to make room for his son in the family business.

Paul was a faithful member of St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville, where he was a past Communion assistant and served on the church finance committee. He was a member of Clintonville American Legion Post 63 and past president of the Clintonville Lions Club as well as the Clintonville Curling Club. His love for the game of golf led him to many years of membership at the Clintonville Riverside Golf Course.

Paul loved to spend time in the outdoors with family and friends. Basically, if it had horns, swam or flew, he caught or hunted it. Often he would come home dirty from hours of planting food plots on his Ford tractor. He enjoyed a glass (or two) of scotch and along with Nancy enjoyed going out to local restaurants with their friends.

For the past 10 plus years, the couple has enjoyed spending time in Florida, where they met lots of wonderful people whom Paul spoke fondly of often. Most of all he enjoyed being with his family, and we take comfort in knowing he is in the care of his Lord and Savior. Until we see you again, Dad …

Survivors include his wife, Nancy; daughter: Carrie (Cory) Peeters, and their daughter, Cacy, of Seymour; son, Andy (Amy) Eberhardt, and their sons, Spencer and Cole, of Clintonville; mother, Florence Eberhardt, of Clintonville; brother, Ken (Linda) Eberhardt, of Stevens Point; sister: Gail Eberhardt, of Rhinelander; also numerous other relatives & friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, Roy; son, Jeff, in infancy; mother-in-law, Beulah Susa; and father-in-law, Gilbert “Scottie” Susa.

Paul’s funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at noon at the St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville with the Rev. Christian Burg officiating. Interment will follow at the Graceland Cemetery in Clintonville with full military honors conducted by members of Clintonville American Legion Post 63, VFW Post 664 and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 63. Friends may call from 2-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory in Clintonville and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, Paul’s family will be creating a memorial fund for the St. Martin Lutheran School.
