Doris E. Johnson

Doris E. Johnson, 81, of Tigerton, entered her heavenly home on Dec. 1, 2017, at Homme Home of Wittenberg. She was born on Dec. 20, 1935, to Edwin and Adele Matson in Birnamwood.

Doris attended local schools. She married Edward “Hardrock” Johnson on May 16, 1953, in Tigerton. They raised their family and lived most of their lives in the town of Germania, Shawano County. They operated Hardrock’s Village Cafe and service station in Tigerton in the 1970s, as well as other ventures.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter, Rebecca Schonfelder; siblings, Eugene Matson, Kenneth Matson, Vernon Matson, Ardis Matson, Erling Matson, Janet Locke, Marvin Matson, Milton Matson, twin brother Donald Matson and two sisters in infancy, Edith and Evelyn.

She is survived by a sister, Joyce (Ronnie) Christjohn; children, Sandra (Christopher) Ramsey, Daniel (Pauline) Johnson, Thomas (Rita) Johnson, JoAnn (Danny) Stanford and Rachel (Ronald) Steebs; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Sally (Bruce) Matson-Herrmann, Sharon Dedolph and Darlene Matson; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She will be deeply missed by all.

Doris was a gentle and selfless soul who dedicated her life to caring for others. She welcomed people from all walks of life to her home, treating them with graciousness and hospitality. Her warmth and kindness were the outflow of the deep and enduring love she had for Jesus Christ. Doris also enjoyed nature, reading and old-time music.

The family would like to thank Homme Home of Wittenberg for their care of Doris in her final years.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, at the chapel at Homme Home of Wittenberg. Interment of cremains will be at a later date at Hillcrest Cemetery, town of Norrie, Marathon County.

Christian M. Smith Sr.

Christian Michael Smith Sr., 57, of Keshena, died on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017. Christian was born in Chicago on Sept. 22, 1960, the son of the late Christian I. Smith and Lillian Blanch Grignon. On April 30, 2005, Christian married Tina Yvette Roberts in Las Vegas. Tina preceded Christian in death on March 27, 2016. Christian worked for the Cook County Forestry Department for over 26 years and enjoyed fishing, camping and his 2 dogs, Winnie and Little.

Christian is survived by his children, Christian M. Smith, Jr., Tanya M. Phillips and Brandon (Jerilyn Shooter) Smith; grandson, Garrett Shooter; and siblings, Alma “Peggy” Korshak, William “Ishie” Sonoda, J.R. Smith, Bonnie Miller, Francine Harmon and Butch; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In memory of Christian, a luncheon will be provided at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, at the Barb Grignon residence on Rainbow Road in Keshena. Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Michelle D. Surin

Michelle D. (Vincent) Surin, 65, of Appleton, was called to God’s side after a brief illness on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017. Michelle was born in Chicago, Illinois on Sept. 6, 1952, daughter of the late Edward and Harriet (Stefanski) Vincent. Michelle graduated from Shawano High School, class of 1971. While she attended school, she enjoyed playing in the marching band and participating in the school theater. She received a degree in medical transcription from Fox Valley Technical College in the mid-1980s. Throughout Michelle’s life, she worked in the medical field, as a clerk at the Appleton Post Office, and for the past 30 years she cleaned commercial and residential properties as Mrs. Clean.

Growing up, Michelle enjoyed fishing, horseback riding, skateboarding, and the 4-H club. Michelle loved the outdoors even to the time of her passing. Later in life, she enjoyed cooking, baking, dancing, jogging, cycling, gardening, and being with family. Michelle loved the roar of stock car engines, the smell of fall in the air, and attending the Shawano County Fair with friends and family. Michelle’s life was centered on her children and grandchildren. The children’s smiles and happiness took precedence over hers. Michelle had a vibrant personality and a great zest for life. She lived by the motto, “Today is the first day of the rest of your life.” Michelle will be sorely missed by all who know her, and the world will surely be more dimly lit by those who loved her.

Michelle is survived by three loving children, Andrew Flaig (Jacqueline), of Appleton; Danielle Surin, of Appleton; and Bethany Surin, of Shawano. Michelle loved her three grandchildren, Aiden, Logan, and Lilliana, as well as her brothers and sisters, Edward Vincent, of Shawano, Kathy (Nick) Rettler, of Greenville, Bill Vincent, of Shawano, Greg (Cindy) Vincent, of Shawano, and Paul (Kathy) Vincent, of Oklahoma. There are also many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Michelle was preceded in death by her parents and two grandchildren, Gavin and Hailey.

A memorial service for Michelle will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St., Appleton, with Pastor Dennis Episcopo officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Monday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service.

Betty J. Walker

Betty Jane Walker, 93, of Gresham, passed away on Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, in Shawano. Betty was born on Nov. 1, 1924, in Cudahy to the late Ray and Ida (Guilbeault) Williams. She was a member of Morgan Siding Assembly of God Church, worked as a caregiver for several years and volunteered many hours at SAFPARC.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Betty (Karl) Jonsson, of Gresham; two grandchildren, Laurel Halbert and Erik (Monica) Jonsson; seven great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her son, William Raymond Robinson; and her parents.

A memorial gathering for Betty will be held at noon on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at Keshena Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in Red Springs Cemetery. A gathering will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Eleanor “Ellie” Bloomer, 86, Green Bay resident, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at Country Villa in Pulaski, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.

Barbara L. Robbins

Barbara L. Robbins, 65, of rural Shawano, passed away peacefully on Dec. 10, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones.

Barb was born on Feb. 14, 1952, in Gillett, the daughter of the late Robert and Julianna (Wilke) Rhode. Barb was baptized and confirmed at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, and graduated from Gillett High School with the class of 1970. While in school, Barb was a class officer, and participated in band and girls basketball. Following graduation, Barb worked for 10 years at Citizen State Bank, and then Valley Bank in Shawano.

On June 12, 1971, Barb was united in marriage to Gregory Robbins at the United Methodist Church in Shawano, where they remained active members for many years. Barb particularly enjoyed their time as MYF youth leaders which included sunrise services, weekly meetings, and hay rides. On June 14, 1985, Barb graduated from the Bellin College of Nursing and was awarded a diploma as a registered nurse. During her 25 years as a RN, Barb worked in emergency and special care, home care, and hospice services. After caring for her terminally ill mother in 1990, Barb devoted the remainder of her career to individuals and families in need of in home hospice care and support.

In 1993, Barb became the director of Shawano Community Hospice, operated through the Shawano Community Hospital. During her tenure as director, hospice service programming became Medicare certified, a significant advancement in helping provide further support to those in their final stages of life. After several years, Barb returned to her first love in nursing, providing direct support and compassion to those under her care. As one former family member in her care recently remarked, “Barb was an angel for us during my wife’s final illness.”

Barb was very active throughout her life. She had a fun personality. Growing up, she enjoyed sports, snowmobiling, riding her motorcycle, and participating in 4-H. Later, she enjoyed golfing, landscaping, antiquing, Jeeping and owning and driving sports cars, especially Corvettes. Barb also had a passion for animals, cats, dogs, birds, and definitely horses. She loved horseback riding, driving her antique doctor’s buggy, and going for sleigh rides behind her big Friesian draft horse, Pieter. Many vacations centered on her enjoyment of training and showing horses at equine events across the country.

Family was very important to Barb. She enjoyed family time on holidays, birthdays, grilling out, grandchildren sleepovers and crazy indoor Easter egg hunts. Barb was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed.

Barb leaves behind her husband of 46 years, Greg; her daughter, Heather (Brad) Johnson, of Shawano; two grandchildren, Kayla and Nickolas Habeck, and their father, Rick, all of Shawano; her brother, Roy (Sharon) Rhode, of Gillett; her brother-in-law, Murray Robbins, of Shawano; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Mary Ellen Rhode.

A memorial service for Barb will be held on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Mickelson Funeral Service of Shawano. Pastor Karla Kirkeby will officiate. Visitation begin at noon and continue until the hour of service.

Steven J. Waite, 64, of Clintonville, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017. Steven was born in Shawano on Oct. 10, 1953, the son of the late Jack and Joan M. (Liesch) Waite. He graduated from Clintonville High School in 1971. Before opening Waite Landscape with his son Kyle, Steven worked for Shawano Lawn and Stone. Steven was an avid hunter and golfer and was often spotted driving around town with his dog, Floyd, and spending time with family and friends.

Steven is survived by his daughter, Kelly (Micah) Griseta and their children, Ariana, Gavin and Isabella, of Cottage Grove; his son, Kyle (Andrea) Waite and their children, Livia and Hannah, of Bonduel; his sisters, Brenda (David) Winslow, of Verona, Robin (Mike) Schultz, of Clintonville, Jacqueline Waite, of Appleton, and Catherine “Toad” (Terry) Schroeder, of Neenah; and his special friend, Jan McDermid.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service for Steven will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Mr. Richard Menning officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established.

Kenneth Lyle Thompson

Kenneth L. Thompson, 90, of the Town of Belle Plaine, died on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017. Born on April 26, 1927, in Navarino, he is the son of the late Stuart and Olga (Knoff) Thompson. Kenneth was drafted and served his country as a decorated United States Marine during the Korean Conflict. On May 22, 1952, he was united in marriage to Norma Degener. Kenneth enjoyed snowmobiling, four-wheeling and deer hunting; in his younger years, he also enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Norma; his son, Dennis (Pam) Thompson, of Milwaukee; two grandchildren, Rachel (Timothy) Riener and Kelsey Thompson, both of Milwaukee; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Kenneth was preceded in death by a daughter, Yvonne; his parents; his siblings, Cora Reeck, Stanley Thompson, Arbutus Seelig, Dorothy Pues and Merle Blink.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at St. Martin Lutheran Church in the Town of Belle Plaine with the Rev. Kurt Kluge officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Lillie Mae Jones

Lillie Mae Jones, 94, formerly of Shawano, passed away Friday morning, Dec. 8, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Lillie was born Feb. 5, 1923, in Honey Grove, Texas, a daughter of the late Earl and Elvira (Burkett) Barnett. On June 10, 1953, she was united in marriage to Eugene L. Jones in Little River County, Arkansas. The couple moved to Shawano around 1954. Lillie was employed as a housekeeper at Evergreen Nursing Home in Shawano. She also owned and operated the Bargain Barn for several years.

Lillie is a longtime member of the River Valley Church in Shawano. She loved camping, sewing and going to rummage sales. She made dolls and exquisite fried chicken. Family meant everything to her.

Survivors include her son, William B. Nowell Sr., of Manitowoc; her grandchildren, Teresa (Tim) Dorsey, of Greenville, Valinda (Bill) Joachim, of Shawano, William (Char) Nowell Jr., of Palm Harbor, Florida, and Patty (Gary DeKeyser) Bohm, of Clintonville; 16 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Eva Wudtke, Shirley Timm and Sharon Anderson; many nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Barb Bettinger, who watched over Lillie like a guardian angel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, on July 9, 2009; and one granddaughter, Jennifer Nowell.

Funeral services for Lillie Mae Jones will be held on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, at noon at the River Valley Church in Shawano. Pastor Dan Taylor will officiate. Interment will take place in Lake Drive Cemetery, Town of Wescott. Visitation will begin at the church at 10 a.m.

Eleanor “Ellie” Bloomer, 86, Green Bay resident, died Monday, Dec, 11, 2017, at Country Villa in Pulaski, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born Nov. 23, 1931, in Milwaukee to the late Alfred and Lena (Bins) Diesner. Ellie attended St. Philip grade school and graduated from St. Joseph Academy. She married Harold Bloomer in May 1950. After her children were grown, Ellie worked at the Golden House as a night advocate. She was a remarkable seamstress, making dolls, quilts and even wedding dresses to name a few. Ellie had many hobbies. She played the piano, was a church organist, enjoyed gardening and needlepoint, woodworking and even refinished furniture. Ellie was an active member of St. Agnes Parish and volunteered her time and talents at St. Vincent De Paul.

She is survived by her eight children, Mike (Lorie) Bloomer, David (Barbara) Bloomer, Bill (Jackie Frisque) Bloomer, Sue (Tom) Adamski, Carol (Joe McLoughlin) Campbell, Bob (Kay) Bloomer, Kathy (Bob) Blake and Tom (Mary) Bloomer; 19 grandchildren, Amie (Mike) Aagaard, Matt and Leah Bloomer, Stacey Bloomer, Melissa (Zach) Bloomer-Pleasant, Ryan Bloomer, Molly (Chris) Tremel, Paul (Coral) Adamski, Daniel (fiancée Joanne Lee) Adamski, Steve Adamski, Laura Adamski, Micky Hundt, Donna (Brendon) Cody, Wesley (Amber) Bloomer, Brandon Bloomer, Nicole (Scott) Wick, Kamryn Velicer, Brandon (Mattie) Blake and Samantha Fredrick; 12 great-grandchildren; her sister, Carol (Fred) Kulow; and the father of her children, Harold Bloomer.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Kyle Adamski; three sisters, twin sisters Kathrine Donne and Margaret Van Egeren, and Marie Star.

Arvin R. Pluger

Arvin R. Pluger, 89, of the Town of Pella, passed away Dec. 12, 2017, at ThedaCare Medical Center-New London.

Arvin Roland Pluger was born July 21, 1928, in Oostburg, son of the late Ferdinand and Maime (Kuhn) Pluger. Young Arvin grew up on his family’s farm near Shiocton and attended Mayking School. He worked for his grandfather after completing school, then later at Haas in Shawano. Arvin then moved to Milwaukee, working for the A. Gettelman Brewing Co.; and later as a brewmaster at Miller Brewing Co., retiring after 35 years. Arvin married Maud E. “Betty” McDougal and the couple later divorced. He was later united in marriage Margie Mae Henke on June 6, 1960, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Milwaukee; the couple later divorced. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Town of Pella. Arvin loved the outdoors. He liked trout fishing, pan fishing, or anything caught through the ice. He enjoyed operating his John Deere lawn tractor to get things done around the property and in his garden. He also enjoyed the time he got to spend bear hunting up north with his family. Arvin loved to spend time with his grandchildren checking in on them, more specifically, helping his grandson work on his racecar. He would also pick up corncobs left behind from harvested fields to feed the turkeys near his granddaughter’s house. Arvin is loved by his family and will be missed.

Survivors include daughters, Janice Trattles, Shawano, Charlotte Hauschultz, Appleton, Christine (Dale Rasmussen) Tetzlaff, Oconto Falls, Carol (Henry) Grunewald, Marion, and Dawn (Bud Skar) Stueck, Green Bay; sons: Arthur Pluger, Virginia, Richard Pluger, West Allis, James Pluger, Leopolis, and Dennis (Cindy) Pluger, Clintonville; grandchildren, Thomas Pluger, Michael Pluger, Derick Pluger, Mary Jean Pluger, Jodi (Joe) Szutkowski, Sherry (Tom) Ewald, Sherryl Cruz, Tammy Schmidt, Terry Schmidt, Tanya Schmidt, Jason Pluger, Jamie (Chad) Wege, April (Brad) Meverden, Amanda (Jeremy) Schmidt, Amy Rivers, Andrew Hauschultz, Jennifer (Larry) Anderson, Derrick (Nicki) Bernard, Tina (Steve) Krenke, Katie Ann Grunewald, Calvin Stueck and Tim (Megan) Stueck; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth (Larry) Voske, Shirley Buss, Patricia (Gabe) Hollander, Darlene Little and Jeanette Pitt; brothers, Robert (Mary) Pluger, Floyd Pluger and Douglas Pluger; and family friends Til Dankert and Kenneth Stueck.

Arvin was preceded in death by grandchildren, Pamela Pluger and Nicholas and Katherine Grunewald; and brothers, Virgil and Wayne Pluger.

Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, Dec. 15, 2017, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Town of Pella, with the Rev. Timothy Lofgren officiating. Interment will take place at the parish cemetery following the service. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Arvin’s name can be directed to the family for a donation to be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Town of Pella.

The family would like to thank Dr. Steve Goedderz, along with all of the medical staff who helped Arvin; his caregivers, Lana Kuehl, Hunter and Tanner Allender, and Mary Wilquet; along with a special thank you to ThedaCare at Home Hospice.

Janet D. Reinhardt

Janet Delores Reinhardt nee Meltz, 84, of Shawano and Sun Prairie, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, at Agrace HospiceCare in Madison after an aggressive battle with large B-cell lymphoma. Born on Sept. 19, 1933, in the Town of Vinland, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Alvin (Pansy) Meltz. Janet grew up in the Oshkosh area and married Roy Wallace Reinhardt on July 19, 1952. Roy preceded her in death on March 23, 2013.

The couple moved to Pulaski in 1956 where they purchased their own farm and raised their family. When not working the farm, Janet was an avid reader and gardener. She loved her flower gardens, which were the envy of all her neighbors for their beauty. She also served on the Ladies Aid at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church for many years. Janet was a wonderful, attentive wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and spent as many hours as possible with each of them. After retiring from farming, the couple moved to Shawano in 1995.

Janet is survived by her four children, Charles (Debra) Reinhardt, of Sun Prairie, Bonnie (Keith) Hanamann, of Green Bay, Keith Reinhardt, of Pulaski, and Glenn (Cheryl) Reinhardt, of Waukesha; seven grandchildren, Heather (Doug) Lenz, Nick (special friend Lindsay) Van Egeren, Tricia (Steve) LaLuzerne, Karla (Jon) Habeck, Doug (Lynn) Reinhardt, Brad (special friend Samantha) Reinhardt and Nikki (Jason) Pawlak; seven great-grandchildren Kaelyn, Braeden, Hayley, Austin, MacKenzie, Luke and Landon; and nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Roy; her daughter-in-law, Debbie Reinhardt; and her sisters, Germaine Kiesow, Darlene Davey and Violet Meltz.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at the St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, W1978 Church Drive, Pulaski. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum in Green Bay. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Agrace HospiceCare are appreciated.

Germaine June Frank

Germaine June Frank, 78, of Cecil, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017, in Green Bay. Born on June 10, 1939, in Shawano, daughter of the late Frederick and Leona (Hartwig) Hinkfus. Germaine graduated from Shawano High School and on June 6, 1959, was united in marriage to John Frank at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Germaine and John farmed together for many years. She also worked in the deli at Sentry Foods in Green Bay for 11 years. Germaine loved NASCAR, the Packers, and traveling with John. The couple traveled all over including memorable trips to Florida, Hawaii, Mexico, and Branson, Missouri. Germaine was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel, a custom classic car club and the FFA. In her free time she enjoyed puzzles, playing bingo at Hillside, going to the Shawano stock car races, and doing arts and crafts, especially ceramics.

Germaine is survived by her husband of 58 years, John; a son, Kevin (Carla) Frank, of Green Bay; brother, Werner (June) Hinkfus, of Michigan; sister, Ruth Meddough, of Florida; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Dennis and Brian; her parents; and a brother, Frederick.

A funeral service for Germaine will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel with the Rev. Tim Shoup officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Wendt Funeral Home in Bonduel on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and again at church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Deloris R. Engel

Deloris Rose Engel, 84, of Shawano, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, after suffering from Alzheimer’s. Deloris was born on Nov. 12, 1933, in the Town of Dupont in Waupaca County to the late Donald and Amanda (Suehring) Briske. She was a certified nurse’s aide and worked at Birch Hill Health Care Center until her retirement in 1995. Deloris was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano and enjoyed bowling, flower gardening, traveling, fishing and dancing. She also enjoyed baking and cooking, especially on the Weber grill, and loved spending time with her family.

Deloris is survived by her children, Diane (Harley) Lyons, of Berry Lake, Daryl Engel, of Florida, Judy (Michael) Rosenberg, of Shawano, Jill (David) Waupoose, of Shawano, and Jay (Andrea) Engel, of Bonduel; six grandchildren, Jamie, Christie, Derek, Dean, Bennett and Teagan; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren and stepgreat-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother, Ervin (Shirley) Briske; her sister, Joyce Hogan; sister-in-law, Sharon Briske; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Dalton; her parents; her brother, Carl Briske; and brother-in-law, Reeve Hogan.

Funeral services for Deloris will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. Mark Baldwin officiating. Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Hermansfort. Visitation will be on Wednesday at the funeral home in Shawano from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

Bernice J. Vomastic

Bernice Jane Vomastic, 84, Town of Waukesha, went to her eternal home on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017. She was born on March 14, 1933, in Shawano to Albert G. and Effie (Hammond) Rindt.

On Sept. 5, 1953, Bernice married Lawrence Vomastic at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. She worked at JC Penney’s and Montgomery Ward in the catalog and jewelry departments. Bernice enjoyed bowling, traveling, making ceramics, cooking — especially spaghetti and throwing it on the wall to make sure it was ready — taking family trips to Minocqua, and creating fond memories with family and friends. She loved her grandchildren dearly.

Bernice is survived by her husband, Lawrence Vomastic; her children and their spouses, Steven (Monica) Vomastic, Appleton, Connie (Dean) Spychalski, Green Bay, and Jennifer (Dale) Zimmerman, Green Bay; grandchildren, Maj. Beau (Abby) Vomastic, Landon (Kate) Vomastic, Bradley (Molly) Spychalski, Angela LaTour, Ross (Kristin) Zimmerman and Ali (Brian) Baumann; great-grandchildren, Kennedy LaTour, Bennett Spychalski, Michael, Liam, and Gabriel Vomastic, and Bailey Laux; her siblings, Norman (Mavis) Rindt, Rosemary Rindt, Beatrice (James) Klevesahl and Joann (Travis) Lubinski; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Earl Vomastic, Irene (Walter) Bartz, Arthur (Lydia) Vomastic, Esther (Leonard) Sager, Harold (Myra) Vomastic and Clarence (Norma) Vomastic.

Friends may call at Woodside Lutheran Home Chapel, 1040 Pilgrim Way, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday followed by the funeral service at 6:30 p.m. with Pastor Steve Apfel officiating. Delores C. Schultz

Delores C. Schultz, 88, of Shawano, formerly of Antigo, peacefully went to meet her Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, Dec. 12, 2017.

Delores was born May 11, 1929, in Barton, near West Bend, a daughter of the late William and Mary (Inden) Koenigs. She attended school in Barton and the Girl’s Tech School in Milwaukee. She was employed in defense work during the war. On Sept. 6, 1947, Delores was united in marriage to Reinhold J. “Ron” Schultz in Milwaukee. The couple recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Early on in their marriage, Ron was in the Air Force and they lived in Texas, Colorado, New Mexico and California. Delores received letters of appreciation from commanders for assisting new military wives and participation in Unit Affairs.

When Ron retired from the Air Force, the couple moved to Wittenberg. While living there, Delores was involved as a CCD instructor and a member of the choir at Holy Family Catholic Church. She was a homemaker while raising her six young children. In 1975, they moved to Antigo where they were members of St. John’s Catholic Church. In 1998, they moved to Shawano and belong to Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Delores enjoyed singing and dancing, fishing, camping, playing cribbage, and crossword puzzles. She loved baking her special pumpkin kuechen and many varieties of Christmas cookies. Most important to Delores was her family.

Survivors include her husband, Reinhold, of Shawano; her children, Linda Lane, of Menasha, Margaret (Thomas) Thornton, of Shawano, Lisa Schultz, of Clintonville, Laura (William) Hickman, of Rehoboth, Delaware, and Alan (Diane) Schultz, of Shawano; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Rose Dengel, of West Bend; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and Carol Schultz; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by a son in infancy; her daughter and son-in-law, Bette and Donald Voeks; her sons-in-law, Larry Lane and Jerome Rathbone; six brothers and sisters; and one brother-in-law.

Funeral services for Delores will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at noon at Mickelson Funeral Service of Shawano. The Rev. Tom Farrell will be the celebrant. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until the hour of service.

David Lance Armstrong, 70, of Keshena, passed away on Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, in Shawano. David was born on September 26, 1947, in Radisson to the late Lynn and Irene Nora (Carlson) Armstrong. On Jan. 3, 1995, David was united in marriage to Carol Horton in Florida. He worked in road construction and enjoyed fishing, hunting and going to the casino. David loved telling stories and spending time with his family.

David is survived by his wife, Carol; five children, Melisa (Tom) Quagon, Mechele (Joe) Bransted, Malinda (Tim) Schade, Christina (Philip) Wester and Tammy Armstrong; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Alvin “Dick” Armstrong, Robert (Stella) Armstrong and Ron Armstrong; one sister, Alice Armstrong; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Carey Armstrong; his parents; and a sister, Della Armstrong.

In honor of David’s wishes, no services will be held. Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting the family.
