
Lyle Myron Maltbey, 86, of Shawano, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, in Shawano.
Lyle was born in Shawano on March 16, 1931, the son of the late George and Mary Ella (Rosenow) Maltbey. After graduating from Shawano High School, he joined the Coast Guard. Lyle was stationed in Portland, Maine, and served during the Korean Conflict.
After his discharge in 1956, Lyle was married to Lorraine Tardif and had two children. They went their separate ways but have remained friends. Later in life, he reconnected with Beverly Zimmerman and loved spending time with her until her passing a few years ago.
Lyle enjoyed history, hunting and fishing on the Wolf River.
Lyle is survived by his children, Lorna and Keith Maltbey; grandchildren, Joaquin “Alex” (Leah) Sanchez, Cecilia Brown, Laura (Gio Cansino) Espinosa and Sirena Maltbey; one great-granddaughter, Saturn X Cansino; three sisters, Donna Heling, Deloris Fischer and Doris Otto; the mother of his children, Lorraine; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved Beverly Zimmerman; his parents; and three brothers, Merlin, Reginald and Michael Maltbey.
Memorial services will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. Lois Graper officiating. Military honors will be conducted at the funeral home by American Legion Post 117. A gathering will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
