Edith Ethel (Koonz) Vandree, 100, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, under the loving care of the Shawano Health Service and Heartland Hospice.
Edith was born on July 5, 1917, in the town of Red Springs to the late Charles and Eva (Housley) Koonz. On June 18, 1939, she married Ralph Vandree, of Clintonville.
Edith worked for 17 years at the Lauerman’s Department Store in Shawano. Later, she was the secretary for the Vandree Real Estate Company until she retired.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, on March 14, 1998; a foster daughter, Vickie Lappen; as well as brothers and sisters, Cyrus Koonz, Oliver Koonz, Robert Koonz, Carl Koonz, Eudora Marcley, Ione Ridlington, Ruth Follett and Clara Mae Felts.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, good neighbors and friends.
Funeral services for Edith will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at the Shawano County Historical Society’s Old Tabor Church, 517 N. Franklin St., in Shawano. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and again on Thursday at the Old Tabor Church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
