Bruce A. Homan

Bruce Allen Homan, 85, town of Washington, was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017. He was born on Sept. 18, 1931, in Aaronsburg, Pennsylvania, to the late Roy and Marion (Winkelbech) Homan.

After high school, Bruce enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. On June 2, 1957, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Polzin. He worked at FWD Seagrave in Clintonville for over 35 years and also farmed with his family in the town of Washington.

Bruce was an active member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, White Clay Lake, where he faithfully participated in Bible study. He enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, woodworking and gardening. Most of all, he loved his family and spending time with them.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Evelyn; five children, Mark (Tammy) Homan, of Marion, Gary (special friend, Meg) Homan, of Cecil, Jeff (Kathy) Homan, of Cecil, Alan (Anita) Homan, of Bonduel, and Kris (Greg) Popp, of Freedom; his grandchildren, Michael (Stacey), Tyler (friend, Kayla), Tammy (Kevin), Melissa, Tarah (Travis), Thomas (friend, Danielle), Matthew, Trevor, Amber (Travis), Courtney (friend, Joe) Kaitlyn and Evan; his great-grandchildren, Jase, Kasen, Kaylee, Rylan and Everly; his stepgrandchildren, Bill (Brittany), Carl (Michele) and Leslie; his great-stepgrandchildren, Jacqueline, Javon, Ryan and Myles; his siblings, Alice Wance, Dean (Pat) Homan, Wayne (Jeanne) Homan, Shirley (Hans) Ponse, Larry Homan and Nancy (Sid) Thompson; his sisters-in-law, Nancy Homan, Barbara Homan, Lillian Heller and Viola Muck.
Bruce is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, and last, but not least, his loyal canine companion, Reggie.

In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl, Leonard, Donald, and Robert; his mother- and father-in- law, Helene and Robert Polzin; and his brothers-in-law, Paul Heller, Bernie Muck and Richard Wance.

A funeral service for Bruce will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017, at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, White Clay Lake, in the town of Washington with the Rev. Steven Pockat officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
