Bruce J. Davids

Bruce J. Davids, “Uncas,” 81, of Bowler, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017, in Antigo. Born on Dec. 22, 1935, in the town of Red Springs, he was the son of the late Elmer and Eureka (Jourdan) Davids.

On Jan. 4, 1954, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served our country until his honorable discharge on Oct. 24, 1957.

Bruce was united in marriage to Joann (Dain) Anderson on Sept. 19, 2009. He worked at Trophy Datsun in Dallas, Texas, as personnel manager for the Stockbridge-Munsee Tribe and maintenance mechanic at Mohican North Star Casino.

Bruce was a member of the Stockbridge-Munsee Tribe and attended Lutheran Church of the Wilderness.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Joann; children, Kenneth (Kathy), Susan, Karrie (Jeff), Elmer (Jenny), Greg (Linda), Carrie (Gary) and Robb; grandchildren, Erin, Aimee, Katelyn, Ethan, Jordan, Matt, Mike, Casey, Kendal, April and Isabella; great-grandchildren, Aaron, Johnny, Riley, Shyanne, Hudson and Vivian; and siblings, Marion (Robert), Elmer (Donna) and Corrine. Bruce is further survived by Glenda Sue, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters, Bernice, Margaret, Dorothy, Lois, Glenn and David.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, at the Lutheran Church of the Wilderness. Burial will be in the Stockbridge Burial Grounds. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Gresham on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, from 4-7 p.m. and again at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Bruce is remembered for his love of painting, ragtime piano playing, excellence as a golfer, and long, long, looooong stories.
