Angel Lynn Marie Mendoza-Waukau, 14, of Keshena, started her journey to the Spirit World on Sunday, July 9, 2017.
Angel was born on Sept. 1, 2002, in Shawano, a daughter of Dominique Mendoza and Mark Waukau Jr. Angel just graduated from Menominee Indian Middle School.
She participated in track, wrote poetry and loved to sing. She enjoyed being around other kids.
Survivors include her parents, Dominique Mendoza and Mark Waukau Jr., both of Keshena; her brothers and sisters, Julian (Lanora) Webster, Nevada (Aliya) Webster Jr., Felix (Malissa) Webster, Marcel Waukau, Monae Waukau, Markala Waukau, Antonio Mendoza, Mark Waukau III, Saesha Waukau, Hilary Waukau and Maceo Waukau; her grandparents, Patricia Mendoza, Manuel Mendoza, Katherine White and Mark Waukau Sr.; her aunts and uncles, Beatrice Chevalier, Mary (Edward) Post, John (Francine) Chevalier, Randall Chevalier, Troy (Chanda) Kinney, Anthony (Teresa) Brown, Consuelo Brown, Manuel (Maia) Mendoza Jr., Laurie (Robert) Mendoza, Mae (Brad) Mendoza, Beatrice (Mario) Mendoza, Mary (Truman) Mendoza, Francisco (Cherilyn) Mendoza and John Mendoza.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Lilly Ann Waukau; her grandparents, Gordon and Mae Chevalier; her aunt, Kateri Mendoza; her uncle, Gordon Chevalier Jr.; and her cousin, Shawn Mendoza.
A funeral service for Angel will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017, at 1 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Neopit. The Rev. Francis Zurbano will officiate. Interment will be in the St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery in Neopit. Relatives and friends may call at the Mae Chevalier residence, N2820 Lakeview Drive, Keshena, beginning on Wednesday evening. Visitation will continue at the Chevalier residence until noon Friday when the procession leaves for church. A parish wake service will take place on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at 7 p.m. at the Chevalier residence.
In lieu of flowers and plants, the family prefers memorials in Angel’s name.
