
Calvin Mahkimetas Hanchett, 38, of Janesville, passed away due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident, on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, in Janesville.
Born in Shawano on Sept. 24, 1978, he was the son of Jon and Stephanie (Phelps) Hanchett. Calvin attended Shawano High School and was an outgoing, social person who loved people. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. Calvin loved to be part of a team. In 1993, he earned a bronze medal in volleyball at the Special Olympics World Games in Connecticut. He was also a proficient skipper on his Janesville curling team.
Calvin loved singing, dancing, the thrill of roller coasters, and was an avid Packers fan. He loved his family and spending time with them, especially during the holidays.
Calvin is survived by his parents, Jon and Stephanie Hanchett, of Shawano; his brothers and sister, Jon (Sarah) Hanchett, of Quincy, Illinois, Joe Hanchett, of Bristol, England, Ben Hanchett, of Chicago, Sarah (Bill) Brennan, of Shawano, William Hanchett, of Shawano, and Robert Powless, of Shawano; his birth parents, Sonny Boyd and Ellie Mahkimetas; and siblings, Darwin Mahkimetas, Alfred Mahkimetas and Ethel Mahkimetas. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Calvin will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. John Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will held at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, from 4-8 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
