Fred F. Krueger, 80, a lifelong resident of Shawano, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017, at Appleton Medical Center.
Fred was born April 17, 1936, in Shawano, a son of the late Emil and Gertrude (Beversdorf) Krueger. He attended St. James Lutheran School, and graduated from Shawano High School in 1954 as president of his class. He attended Valparaiso University for two years, then entered the United States Army where he served for two years state side. Upon returning from the service, he worked with his father at Shawano Implement, later known as K&K Equipment. Fred and his brother, Mark, owned and operated the business as a partnership until 2001.
On Dec. 31, 1966, Fred was united in marriage to the former Susan Corey at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marathon. The couple lived in Shawano their entire married life. Fred is a good and faithful lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church of Shawano. He held several positions at St. James throughout his life. He loyally served the city of Shawano as an alderman, and also as a member of the Shawano Municipalities Board. Fred was a member of the Shawano Jaycees and later became a very dedicated member of the Rotary Club of Shawano. He was an avid golfer and bridge player. He enjoyed racquetball and staying active.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sue Krueger, of Shawano; his loving children, Rick (Karen) Krueger, of Bay Side, Hans (Julie) Krueger, of Lodi, Karen (Jonathan) Slaght, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and his daughter-in-law, Melody Krueger, of Shawano; 10 grandchildren, James, Emma, and Erin Krueger, Haley, Sara and Olivia Krueger, Mollie and Jenna Krueger, and Hendrik and Anwyn Slaght; two sisters, Ruth Fry and Barbara Fallert, both of North St. Paul, Minnesota; his sister-in-law, Rose Krueger, of Shawano; and several nieces and nephews.
Fred was preceded in death by his son, Corey Krueger, in 2014; an infant daughter, Rebecca; and his brother, Mark Krueger.
Funeral services for Fred F. Krueger will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church of Shawano. The Rev. Dr. Timm Griffin will officiate. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in the spring. Relatives and friends may call on Friday, March 17, 2017, at Mickelson Funeral Service from 5-7 p.m., and again at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred in Fred’s name to St. James Lutheran Church.
