Raymond H. Galleske

Raymond H. Galleske, 89, of Shawano, slipped peacefully from this earthly life into the arms of Jesus and the joy of Heaven on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017, in Shawano.

Ray was born on Nov. 23, 1927, in Shawano, a son of the late Paul and Hattie (Schutt) Galleske. He attended St. James Lutheran School and Shawano High School. On Feb. 27, 1946, he entered the United States Army, serving as a medic until being discharged on May 31, 1947. Upon returning from service he was employed at Hotz Manufacturing, Weber Plywood and Veneer, and the Shawano Paper Mill for over 25 years.

On June 2, 1951, Ray was united in marriage to the former Ardyce Huebner at St. Martin Lutheran Church, Belle Plaine. The couple lived in Shawano their entire marriage.

Ray was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also liked tinkering with little repair jobs. He was known for his delicious smoked fish.

Ray enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ardyce, of Shawano; children, Bruce (Julie) Galleske, Barry (Laurie) Galleske, Beth (Robert) Zemple, Brad (Traci) Galleske and Brent (Ann) Galleske, all of Shawano; grandchildren, Sarah, Jenny, Paul, Gregory, Rebecca, Joshua, Sean, Ashley Z., Ashley J., Jasmine, Hunter, Kyle, Dustin, Jacob, Travis and Erica; great-grandchildren, Lillia, Abbigail, Naomi, EmmaRay, Alex, Cody, Sean, Macy, Drake, Tila, Trey and a future great-granddaughter; great-great-granddaughter, Gracie; sister, Helen (Hiram) Joslin, of Green Bay; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Ray was preceded in death by his son, Brian Galleske; daughter, Brenda Sorenson; grandson, Adam Rymer; brother, Edward Galleske; and sisters, Dorothy Baumgarten and Beatrice Gipp.

Funeral services for Raymond H. Galleske will be held on Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, at 1 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Pastor Ted Andrada will officiate. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted by Shawano AMVETS Post 10. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 11 a.m. until the hour of service.
