Karen Bartelt-Marshall went home on Feb. 13, 2016.
Karen was born on Sept. 9, 1956, in Milwaukee to Burton Bartelt (deceased) and Lorraine (Malueg) Bartelt (deceased). She lived in Wisconsin until 1992, when she moved to Florida for a job with Comcast as the pay per view coordinator for the area from Jacksonville to Key West. As coordinator she met many boxing legends, including Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran and Oscar De La Hoya.
Karen met the love of her life, Scott Marshall, in 1996 and was married in 1998. Their marriage ceremony was portrayed on the Learning Channel as “A Wedding Story” to let everyone know that you will always find the right person – it’s never too late.
In 2005, they moved to New Mexico, where Karen was finally able to have horses in her own yard. Karen loved her horses, which included one she rescued.
She requested that memorial donations be sent to Walkin’ in Circles Ranch, an equine rescue, in Stanley, New Mexico (http://www.wncr.org/).
Harris-Hanlon Mortuary (505-832-6130) in Moriarty, New Mexico, handled Karen’s cremation.
