David Lee Murray Sr., of Shawano, formerly of Jefferson, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016, at ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano.
He was born in Fort Atkinson on March 17, 1945, the son of Robert and Helen (Gerondale) Murray. He attended Fort Atkinson High School.
On Nov. 26, 1966, David was united in marriage to Linda L. Free at St. John’s Lutheran in Jefferson.
David worked for 30-plus years as an upholsterer, retiring from Herman Miller in Lake Mills in April 2008.
He lived his entire life in the Fort Atkinson/Jefferson area until moving to Shawano after Linda retired.
He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, feeding the birds, pontoon rides on the lake, and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren around the campfire enjoying s’mores.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, of Shawano; daughter Sharon (Mark) Magee and their children Nathan, Luke and Ava, of Janesville; son David Jr. (JoAnn) and his son, Anthony, of South Beloit, Illinois; daughter Jody (Lloyd) Gleisner and their children Megan, Andrew and Tyler, of Jefferson; and three sisters, Karen (Jerry) Smith, Pam (Rich) Dahl and Deb (Jim) Lombardo. He is further survived by uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, at the Nitardy Funeral Home Chapel, 1008 Madison Ave., Fort Atkinson.
