Helen M. Carnes, 92, of Clintonville, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at Pine Manor.
Helen was born in Clintonville on Feb. 22, 1924, the daughter of the late William F. and Agnes (Sorensen) Zastrow. In 1963, Helen was united in marriage to Robert M. Carnes in Madison. He preceded her in death in 1995. She taught at Madison West High School in the late 1950s-1960’s under the name Helen Jayne and was a Christian Science practitioner for 46 years.
Helen was an excellent archer and enjoyed horseback riding, fishing and knitting.
Helen is survived by one daughter, Christine Carnes, of Clintonville; stepdaughter, Catherine (Steven) Mackenroth, of California; stepson, John (Ann Mason) Carnes, of Ohio; two grandsons; and one sister-in-law, Jean Zastrow, of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; one stepson, Robert “Robin” Carnes Jr; as well as two brothers, John and Kenneth Zastrow.
