On Aug. 30, 2018, the Lord brought Marcella June Hafferman home. Marcella passed away at the age of 90 at ThedaCare Medical Center in Shawano from pneumonia. She was born on a farm in Bowler on June 26, 1928. She graduated from Bowler High School, where she met Lester Hafferman. Marcella and Lester were married in 1950 and had five children, Mark, Shelly, Gail, Amy and Julie.
Marcella worked as a seamstress for 16 years at Milwaukee County General Hospital, moving back to the area after her retirement. With a smile on her face, she was always happy to see everyone. Marcella had a wonderful sense of humor and a great laugh. She enjoyed reading and sewing in her free time. Marcella loved to travel and made many wonderful memories camping every summer at Shawano Lake with her children. Marcella’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be extremely missed by her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Julie Sels; grandchildren, Jamie Lawrence and Joseph (Sarah) Sels; and great-grandchildren, Nyah Sels, Kaylee Sels and Ada Lawrence.
Marcella was preceded in death by her former husband, Lester; four children, Mark Hafferman, Shelly Hafferman, Gail Dupree and Amy Lightner; and a grandson, Jason Lightner.
Funeral services for Marcella will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, at Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano with Vicar Lois Graper officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
