William Carl “Bill” Schmidt, 61, of Shawano, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, July 29, 2018. Bill was born in Shawano on Jan. 28, 1957, son of the late Clarence and Mildred (Kreklow) Schmidt. On Jan. 28, 1996, Bill was united in marriage to Pamela Roloff. Bill lived in Shawano most of his life and was the president and active member of the Shawano Lake Lions Club, as well as very active at the state level. He was a Brewers fan and a Packers super fan and enjoyed curling and golfing.
Bill is survived by his wife, Pam; children, Neal (Becky) Olson, of Colorado, and Amanda (Pachi) Mercedes Laureano, of Shawano; two grandchildren, Oliver and Maximo; and adopted children, Maria and Katie. He is further survived by his brother, Dr. Michael (Becky) Schmidt, of Plover; two nephews, Jason (Laura) Schmidt and Andrew (Carrie) Schmidt; as well as his favorite dogs, Winston Churchill and Puttser.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service for Bill will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 6, 2018, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Mr. Richard Menning officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from noon until the time of the service.
