
Barry A. Fredrich, 76, of the town of Wescott, Shawano, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, April 12, 2016, at the ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano.
Barry was born on Oct. 21, 1939, in Minocqua, a son of the late Harvey and Florence (Holte) Fredrich. He attended school in Arbor Vitae and graduated from Minocqua High School. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving in Germany. Upon returning from the service, he was employed at the United States post office in Green Bay.
On Dec. 3, 1959, Barry was united in marriage to the former Donna Mae Yaeger in Bessemer, Michigan. Following their marriage the couple lived in Green Bay. Barry retired from the post office and spent the following years at Acres for Recreation where he, along with his wife, managed the facility. He was also very active at the Clintonville Gun Club.
Barry’s hobbies included trap shooting, fishing and hunting. He was a member of several Ducks Unlimited chapters throughout his life. He was a generous donor to the Ducks Unlimited Organization and won several awards for his contributions. Barry was a member of the Disabled American Veterans organization.
Survivors include his wife, Donna, of Shawano; his son, Troy (Ellen) Fredrich, of Hudson; two granddaughters, Mara and Hallie Fredrich, of Hudson; his sister-in-law, Bonnie (Brian) Bender, of Nashville, Tennessee; and a brother, Michael Fredrich.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Gordon and Martha Yaeger.
Funeral services for Barry will be held on Monday, April 18, 2016, at 6 p.m. at Mickelson Funeral Service. Deacon James Lonick will officiate. Interment will be in the Lake Drive Cemetery, town of Wescott. Shawano AMVETS Post 10 will conduct Military Honors on Monday evening at the funeral home. Relatives and friends may call from 4 p.m. until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in his name for the charity of their choice.
