
Raymond W. Raeder, 91, of the Town of Wescott, passed away Friday evening, May 18, 2018, at King Veterans Home in King.
Ray was born March 26, 1927, in the Town of Deer Creek, Outagamie County, a son of the late William and Lilly (Wolfgram) Raeder. He attended country schools. On May 30, 1945, Ray enlisted with the United States Army. He served during World War II and was stationed in Germany. He received the Army of Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Ray was honorably discharged on March 25, 1948.
Upon returning from service, he owned and operated a dump truck to deliver gravel and sand. Ray worked for many years in the Shawano area, retiring in the late 1990s. He liked collecting old cars. While a resident at King Veterans Home, he enjoyed attending church services and Bible study.
Ray is survived by one brother, Don (Nancy) Raeder, of the Town of Wescott; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services for Raymond W. Raeder will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Mickelson Funeral Service of Shawano. Chaplain Wayne Schwanke will officiate. Interment with full military honors will be conducted by AmVets Post 10 at Lake Drive Cemetery, Town of Wescott. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the hour of service.
