Marvin G. Lane, 76, of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, Feb. 8, 2018, at the Cottages in Shawano.

Marvin was born Sept. 14, 1941, in Mattoon, a son of the late Guy and Louise (Bierman) Lane. He attended school in Gresham. In his younger days, Marvin worked on farms, the Riverview Country Club and Shuh Tree Surgery, both in Appleton. While there, he met the love of his life, the former Karen Zimmerman. They lived in the same duplex, Karen upstairs and Marvin downstairs. They married on Dec. 12, 1964, at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Manitowoc where Marvin was employed as a slit assistant/operator at Mirro Aluminum. After his retirement in 2004, the couple moved to Shawano. Marvin’s loving wife of 51 years preceded him in death on Aug. 31, 2016.

Marvin is a member of St. Jakobi Lutheran Church in the Town of Richmond. His hobbies included listening to country western music and singing along. He knew all of the Hank Williams Sr. songs. Marvin enjoyed gardening, walking, bird watching, traveling, and watching the Brewers, Packers, Badgers, and Bucks, both in person and on TV. He was a kind soul with a loving heart, and will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his siblings, LeRoy (Carol) Lane, of Florida, Mike (Margaret) Lane, of Shiocton, Pat (Monica) Lane, of Menasha, Lucy (Don) Coleman, of Rice Lake, Ginny (Jack) Jarchow, of Bonduel, and Judy Fuller, of Green Bay; his brother-in-law, Ronald (Judy) Zimmerman of Wichita, Kansas; and many nieces, nephews, and friends, including his friends from the Cottages.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his sisters, Hazel, Mabel, and Evelyn; and his brothers, Vernon, Willard, Raymond, Edward, Russell, and Guy Jr.

Funeral services for Marvin G. Lane will be held on Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Jakobi Lutheran Church in the Town of Richmond. Pastor Travis Kleinschmidt will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will take place at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service.

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred to the ThedaCare Family Foundation.
