Danny Lee “Howard” “Bubba” Schmidt, 61, of Gresham, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, in Appleton.
The son of the late Clyde and Marjorie (Ringel) Schmidt, Danny was born on July 20, 1954, in Shawano. He worked at Lakeland Industries for many years and was a past participant in the Special Olympics.
Danny enjoyed feeding the deer, fishing, collecting caps and taking car rides, especially past the family farm. In his free time, he enjoyed listening to polka music and Johnny Cash, and never missed an episode of “The Price is Right.” He was an avid Brewers, Packers and NASCAR fan. He loved Bubba sandwiches with Sun Drop, no ice.
For the past five years, Bubba resided with his brother Andy, Lori and their family. He loved spending time with his family and spoiling all of his nieces and nephews. He seemed to know everyone and made new friends wherever he went. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Danny is survived by his brothers and sisters, Dennis (Dorine) Schmidt, of Tilleda, his twin, Dave (Karla) Schmidt, of Greenville, Peggy (Dennis) Spanbauer, of Oshkosh, Bonnie Schmidt, of Shawano, Kathy (Mark) Kroenke, of Shawano, Kristy (Tim) Paiser, of Gresham, Karen (John) Peters, of Green Bay, and Andy (Lori) Schmidt, of Gresham; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents and one niece.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016, at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Gresham with the Rev. Joel Jores officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. “I’m the number one man in Shawano County.”
