Donna Mae Rusch

Donna Mae Rusch, 76, of Shawano, passed away on March 15, 2017. Donna was born on June 29, 1940, in Shawano, daughter of the late Clarence and Agnes (Radtke) Rusch. Donna was born and raised in the Shawano area and graduated from Shawano High School in 1957. She worked at AAL in Appleton for many years. In her free time, Donna enjoyed bowling, polka dancing and cheering for the Chicago Cubs. Donna was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano.

Donna is survived by a brother, Eugene (Bonnie) Rusch, of Cecil; nieces and nephews, Randy and his children, Russ, Renee and James, Rick Rusch, Connie Rusch, Ron Rusch, Gary (Jennifer) Rusch and their children, Abigail and Zachariah, Greg (Beth) Rusch and their children, Sam and Jack, Ginger Hamann and her children Hunter and Mason, and Gina (Tim) Gueller and their children Ty and Ali; as well as numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Larry, Dennis and Connie.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017, at St. James Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ted Andrada officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Fred F. Krueger

Fred F. Krueger, 80, a lifelong resident of Shawano, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017, at Appleton Medical Center.

Fred was born April 17, 1936, in Shawano, a son of the late Emil and Gertrude (Beversdorf) Krueger. He attended St. James Lutheran School, and graduated from Shawano High School in 1954 as president of his class. He attended Valparaiso University for two years, then entered the United States Army where he served for two years state side. Upon returning from the service, he worked with his father at Shawano Implement, later known as K&K Equipment. Fred and his brother, Mark, owned and operated the business as a partnership until 2001.

On Dec. 31, 1966, Fred was united in marriage to the former Susan Corey at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marathon. The couple lived in Shawano their entire married life. Fred is a good and faithful lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church of Shawano. He held several positions at St. James throughout his life. He loyally served the city of Shawano as an alderman, and also as a member of the Shawano Municipalities Board. Fred was a member of the Shawano Jaycees and later became a very dedicated member of the Rotary Club of Shawano. He was an avid golfer and bridge player. He enjoyed racquetball and staying active.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sue Krueger, of Shawano; his loving children, Rick (Karen) Krueger, of Bay Side, Hans (Julie) Krueger, of Lodi, Karen (Jonathan) Slaght, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and his daughter-in-law, Melody Krueger, of Shawano; 10 grandchildren, James, Emma, and Erin Krueger, Haley, Sara and Olivia Krueger, Mollie and Jenna Krueger, and Hendrik and Anwyn Slaght; two sisters, Ruth Fry and Barbara Fallert, both of North St. Paul, Minnesota; his sister-in-law, Rose Krueger, of Shawano; and several nieces and nephews.

Fred was preceded in death by his son, Corey Krueger, in 2014; an infant daughter, Rebecca; and his brother, Mark Krueger.

Funeral services for Fred F. Krueger will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church of Shawano. The Rev. Dr. Timm Griffin will officiate. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in the spring. Relatives and friends may call on Friday, March 17, 2017, at Mickelson Funeral Service from 5-7 p.m., and again at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred in Fred’s name to St. James Lutheran Church.

John A. Bauman

John A. Bauman, 74, of Gresham, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, in Green Bay. John was born in Gresham on Feb. 25, 1943, to the late Harry and Geraldine (Ninham) Bauman. He met his future wife while attending Gresham High School. After graduating in 1961, he attended UW-Platteville, earning his Civil Engineering degree in 1966. On May 21, 1966, John was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Diane Zeuske at Zion Lutheran Church in Gresham. John was drafted into the United States Army in 1966 and served in Okinawa, Japan, where he worked on the runway complex for U2 spy planes, as well as serving a year in South Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1968 and went to work for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. His career took him all over the world. He was in Hawaii from 1968-1970 working on the “Punch Bowl Cemetery” renovations before moving to Maryland where he worked on the new building project for the Walter Reed Army Medical Center until 1976. In 1976, he moved to Ohio where he renovated an existing tank plant to build the new M1 Abrams Tanks, and in 1978, he returned to Maryland where he worked out of the Baltimore office on various government projects until 1992. During his final stint in Maryland he was called upon, in 1986, to help with the construction of the Multi National Force of Observers in the Sinai Peninsula, and in 1990, John was called to Tel Aviv, Israel, during the Gulf War. Wherever he lived, he was always involved with the community. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gresham, the current treasurer and past president of the Gresham Lions Club, a member of the Gresham American Legion Post 390, a platinum member and board member of Gresham Dollars for Scholars, and he was the Zone District Chairman for District 27-B2. In his free time he enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family. He loved family vacations and remembered every road he traveled as he and his family saw the United States from coast to coast, enjoying all the country had to offer.

John is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Diane; their children, John Paul Bauman, of Gresham, and Jennifer Bauman, of Shawano; five sisters, Deanna Bauman, of Shawano, Mary Raasch, of Gresham, Jeri (John Breuninger) Bauman, of Green Bay, Carol Bauman, of Oneida, and Judy (Jim) Ward, of Shawano; two brothers-in-law, Doug (Cathy) Zeuske and Dan (Karen) Zeuske; one sister-in-law, Debbie (Bruce) Hoeft; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law and good friend, Keith Raasch.

Funeral services for John will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, March 20, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church in Gresham with Rev. John C. Eyer officiating. Burial will be in Zion Rest Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Gresham American Legion Post 390. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2017, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Gresham from 4-7 p.m. and again at the church on Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of the services.

Marjorie Metzner

Marjorie “Marge” (Hall) Metzner, 90, Cecil, formerly of Green Bay, died Thursday, March 16, 2017, surrounded by all of her loved ones. She was born on May 13, 1926, in Chicago to Cloyd and Mildred (Myers) Hall.

On June 16, 1950, Marge married Harold Metzner in Wheaton, Illinois. They enjoyed traveling through the U.S. and Europe. Marge enjoyed gardening, playing bridge, knitting, square dancing, and bowling. Her greatest joy was being with her family. Marge loved her family and was a great supporter of her children’s interests and activities throughout the years.

She is survived by her husband, Harold; six children and their spouses, Mark (Kathleen) Metzner, Marcia (Mark) Christiansen, David (Marcia) Metzner, Jim (Renee) Metzner, Rick (Sharon) Metzner, Tom (Maxine) Metzner; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Chet Sowinski; and many nieces and nephews.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Patricia Sowinski; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Charlotte and Frank Metzner.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Friends may also call at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 341 Wilson Ave., from 10-11 a.m. Monday. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Diane Rew officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Leonard L. Rambo

Leonard L. “Billy” Rambo, of Wittenberg, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. He was 91 years old. He was born on Sept. 21, 1925, in Shawano, a son of the late William and Rose (Vieau) Rambo. He married Evelyn Noffke on Aug. 20, 1949, at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano.

Mr. Rambo was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Army Air Corps from Feb. 14, 1946, to Sept. 3, 1947, having served in the Pacific Theatre.

Mr. Rambo worked in Milwaukee at Briggs and Straton before becoming a licensed butter maker for Consolidated Badger later known as Morning Glory. He owned Hillcrest Motel in Wittenberg for 16 years. In 1991, he moved to Phoenix, Arizona, before returning to Wisconsin in 2005.

He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Polar and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wittenberg.

He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Evelyn; two daughters, Sharon Rambo, of Gresham, and Donna Hanke, of Birnamwood; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel Rambo and David Rambo; six sisters, Dorothy Koeller, Margie Weeks, Lorraine Kriescher, Geraldine Smits, Marcella Wegner and Patricia Hagen; and a brother, Lester Rambo.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 21 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wittenberg, with the Rev. Michael Larson officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of service. The Bloecher-Johnson American Legion Post 502, Wittenberg, will conduct military honors at the church following the service.

Ronald M. Schultz

Ronald “Ron” M. Schultz, 75, Shawano, was called to be with his Lord on Friday, March 17, 2017, with his family by his side. He was born on Aug. 19, 1941, in Manitowoc to Milton and Wilma (Plantico) Schultz.

Ron proudly served with the U.S. Army in Berlin, Germany. On June 15, 1963, he married Hilda Leslie in Berlin. Ron’s strong work ethic and vision led him to founding Hometown Insurance Agency in Brillion and Shawano. Although Ron was dedicated to his clients, he knew where his heart was — his family. He loved to spend time snowmobiling, boating and traveling with them.

Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Hilda; his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Dave Couillard; his son, Timothy Schultz; his beautiful granddaughter, Elena Schultz; his sister and brother-in-law, Valerie and Bill Kocian; and his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and Paul Bialek.

A celebration of Ron’s well-lived life and sharing of memories will be held at 1951 West/Rock Garden, 1951 Bond St., Green Bay, from 12-4 p.m. Saturday, April 8.

Petronell Keshena Martin

Feb. 3, 1931 - March 21, 2017

One day in 1945, Pet Keshena, a freshman at Shawano High School, arrived home and told her mother that Miss Kemmeter instructed the students to learn a five-minute speech. Pet went on to be a two-time winner of the Wisconsin Individual Forensic Championship.

She used her oratory skills to star in the Menominee pageants. Pet, along with her niece, Lynn Skenandore, and many other Menominees from throughout the reservation presented plays at the historic Woodland Bowl during the 1950s.

Pet was united in marriage to Wayne Martin in March 1951. The couple had seven children and spent nearly 48 years together. Wayne preceded her in death on March 1, 1999.

Pet enjoyed playing bingo, reading, playing solitaire, following politics and a good brandy old-fashioned. She also loved road trips, both short and cross-country, which often included a story or two.

The death of Petronell closes a generation’s era within the Keshena family and the Menominee Tribe. She was the youngest and last surviving child of the late Frank and Nell (Besaw) Keshena and the great-great-granddaughter of Chief Keshena, a signer of the treaties between the Menominee Tribe and the U.S. government.

Pet is survived by four children, Melanie Martin, Mary (John) Martin-Smith, Joseph (Eva Johnson) Martin and the Honorable Mercedes Martin; four grandchildren, Mandy Villa, Megan Lohuis, Henry (Amanda) Kitson and Franny Kitson; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Frances “Jeannie” Pyawasy, Grace “Jiggs” Martin, Clara “Dolly” Stone and Jeannine Keshena. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; three daughters, Sally Kitson, Jane Martin and Elizabeth Martin; three brothers, Joe Keshena, Gordon Keshena and Francis “Zeke” Keshena; three sisters, Rita Keshena, Dolores Boyd and Joan Harte; and her longtime companion, Arthur “Chappy” Chapman.

A memorial Mass for Petronell will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 24, 2017, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Keshena with the Rev. Joel Jores officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

Mark W. Schulz

Mark Warren Schulz passed away suddenly, Sunday, March 19.

Mark will always be remembered as the best dad ever and as a great brother, uncle and friend. He loved his family with all his heart and only left them after a long battle with depression.

Along with spending time with family, Mark loved to fish and was always going to catch “Walter.” His annual fishing trip with his brothers, nephews, friends and son was something that he enjoyed, and everyone looked forward to sharing their stories. He loved spending time on Lulu Lake with his dog Lulu.

Mark enjoyed watching “his Packers.” He was a proud second-generation union member of IBEW Local 150.

Mark was an active member of St. Martin’s church in Cecil.

Born in Waukegan, Illinois, Mark graduated from Grant High School, Ingleside, Illinois, in 1972.

Mark was the son of Adolph (Bud) and Hazel (Tanner) Schulz, who preceded him in death. He will be forever missed by his daughters, Megan and Maribeth, and son, Luke; his sisters, Judy (Ken) Wyman and Linda (Jack) Grinnell; his brothers, Gary (Margie) Schulz and Al (Bev) Schulz; and many nephews and nieces.

A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 25, at noon at the Church of St. Patrick, 15000 Wadsworth Road, Wadsworth, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations to the Let’s Go Fishing (http://lgfws.com) or National Alliance on Mental Illness Brown County (http://www.namibrowncounty.org) organizations.

Lovely “Ann” Usack, 70, of Bonduel, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, in De Pere.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017, at St. Martin Catholic Church in Cecil with Deacon Mike Grzeca and the Rev. Luke Ferris officiating. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Beatrice A. Bohm

Beatrice A. “Beattie/Bea” Bohm, 89, of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, March 19, 2017, in Shawano.

Beattie was born on Dec. 31, 1927, in Shawano, a daughter of the late Herman and Linda (Hacker) Singer. She was employed at the canning factory and as a housekeeper prior to her marriage to Willard Bohm on May 10, 1946. The couple was married at Peace United Church of Christ in Shawano and lived in Shawano their entire married life.

Bea was employed at Wrights Broiler Company, Jolens Manufacturing, Weber Plywood & Veneer, Shawano Evening Leader and later at Bohm Builders.

She attended Peace United Church of Christ for many years. She was a great cook and homemaker. Beattie loved gardening, canning, playing cards, attending sporting events and activities for her children and grandchildren. She liked to take walks and ride her bike. She was always up for attending birthdays and special occasions at the farm. Bea was instrumental in all wild game processing during hunting season. She loved to watch the Green Bay Packer games on television.

Beattie is survived by her loving husband of nearly 70 years, Willard H. Bohm, of Shawano; her children, Randall (Mary) Bohm, of Shawano, Sherry Hoffman, of Green Bay, and Daniel “Bullet” (Patricia) Bohm, of Shawano; her grandchildren, Patrick (Katie Pecha) Bohm, Jackson (Susan) Hoffman, Chris (Tricia Zempel) Bohm, Taylor Bohm and Maggie Bohm; great-grandchildren, Joshua (Vaughn) Bohm, Erik Bohm, Barret Bohm, Elena Bohm and Griffin Bohm; and many nieces and nephews.

Beattie was preceded in death by her sisters, Mable Gruetzmacher, Cecilia Rosenthal, Hildegard Beyer, Mary Bohm, Inez Schroeder and Sally Weingarden; and her brothers, Arnie, Alvin, Ervin, Eddie and Lester Singer.

Funeral services for Beatrice A. Bohm will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Peace United Church of Christ in Shawano. Pastor Marty Black will officiate. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in the spring. Relatives and friends may call at Peace Church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service.

Memorials are preferred in her name to Peace United Church of Christ.

Yvonne Lois Creapeau, 80, of Morgan Siding, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at her home.

Yvonne was born on June 16, 1936, in Tomah, the daughter of the late Morris “Buckshot” and Colleen (Bowman) Ninham. On March 23, 1953, Yvonne was united in marriage to Raymond E. Creapeau, who preceded her in death in 1963. She enjoyed playing guitar, baking, gardening and gambling. More than anything, Yvonne enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Yvonne is survived by her children, Marilyn Creapeau, of Keshena, Raymond (Alphia) Creapeau Jr., of Gresham, Ronald Creapeau, of Gresham, Charleen (Marv) Malone, of Gresham, Kathy (Gerald) Hill, of Bowler, Michael (Mary) Creapeau, of Bowler, and Quinton (Cindy) Creapeau, of Gresham; her significant other for 50 years, Mike Rudesill; grandchildren, Jerry, Kelly, Geraldine, Lyle, Raymond, Evon, Tanya, Melodi, Crystal, Cherie, LeAnthony, Quinton, Elizabeth and Lee Allen Malone; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Maurice (Joan) Ninham, Robert Ninham, Allen (Violet) Ninham, Kenneth (Florence) Ninham, Craig Ninham and Bruce Ninham; and sisters, Carol (George) Mohawk and Janet (John) Hill; as well as her special furry friend, Milo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. Creapeau Sr.; her parents; three brothers, David, Gerald and Dennis Ninham; and one sister, Sharon Lusiak.

Barbara E. Dixon

Barbara E. “Barbie” Dixon, of Neopit, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 22, 2017.

Barbie was born on April 30, 1959, to Richard and Sylvia Dodge, of Keshena. She was in the first graduating class of Menominee Indian High School in 1977. She went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in history at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

On July 22, 1978, Barbie was united in marriage to Eugene V. Dixon in Keshena. Barbie began her career as a teacher at Menominee Tribal School in Neopit, where she became better known as Mrs. Dixon. Teaching the children at Menominee Tribal School for the past 20 years was very important to her, as were the people she worked beside. She enjoyed pow-wow dancing with her grandchildren, beading, regalia making and going for rides in the woods with her husband.

Barbie will remain in the hearts of her husband of 45 years, Eugene V. Dixon Sr,; daughter, Taneil R. (Roger A. Corn Jr.) Dixon, of Shawano; sons, Eugene V. (Alinda Basina) Dixon Jr., of Keshena, and Mitchell M. Dixon, of Neopit; her four-legged child, George; 10 grandchildren, Corey J. Sanapaw, Danica L. Sanapaw, Pamela J. Dixon, Mylee J. Dixon, Colt S. Dixon, Khloe L.E. Corn, Kateri Dixon, Hayden Dixon, Sage M. Corn and Geneva Dixon; her godchildren, Charlotta J. Perez and Timothy J. Dixon Jr.; her parents, Richard and Sylvia Dodge; sisters, Jeanette (Camilo) Perez, of Keshena, Wendy (Larry) Warrington, of Keshena, and Lorraine Cochran-Powell, of Oklahoma; brothers, Kenneth Dodge, of Keshena, Lawrence (Lori) Dodge, of Shawano, Richard (Denise) O’Kimosh Sr., of Keshena, Benjamin B. Cochran, of Oklahoma, and Morris L. Cochran, of Oklahoma; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, who were very special to her. She is further survived by extended family and friends, Dawn Wilber, Annette (Marty) Emerich Koleno, Gert (Bob) Delabrue, Marci Grignon, Julie Hill and countless more that she will continue to watch over until rejoining them.

She was preceded in death by her father, William S. Cochran; brothers, Roger F. Dodge and Ronnie Grant; mother-in-law, Lois Dixon; and father-in-law, Vyron Dixon Sr.

Funeral services for Barbie will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 24, 2017, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Neopit with the Rev. Francis Zurbano officiating. Elizabeth Jane “Betty” Mann, 89, of Shawano, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2017, at Oak Haven Assisted Living Facility in Shawano.

Betty was born on May 16, 1927, in Milwaukee, a daughter of the late Arnold and Helen (Ploszay) Ebert. She was a 1948 graduate of the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a member of the Sigma Alpha Iota sorority. She taught music at the Wisconsin Music Conservatory and the Wisconsin College of Music, Madison. Betty also performed as a concert pianist, both as a soloist and with several orchestras.

On Aug. 21, 1948, Betty was united in marriage to John Paris Mann III. She and her husband retired to Shawano in 1987 from Worthington, Ohio. John preceded Betty in death in August 1994. Betty had a passion for botany and grew magnificent floral gardens. She also enjoyed bridge club and women’s club. She was an avid reader, classical pianist, tennis player and knitter. She loved knitting hats for the newborn babies at Shawano Medical Center.

Betty is survived by her loving children, John P. Mann IV, of Shawano, Gail E. (Chris) Morkemo, of Omro, Thomas A. (Cynthia) Mann, of Hilliard, Ohio, and Robert C. (Tracey) Mann, of Chaumont, France; her grandchildren, Eric Mann, Charlotte Mann, Dewey Hawthorne, Emma (Jory) Lawson and David Mann; and her great-grandchildren, Karter Hawthorne, Summer Hawthorne and Edward Diaz-Mann.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, John; her brothers, John and Donald Ebert; and her sister, Doris Romanowicz.

Funeral services for Betty will take place on Monday, March 27, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. at Mickelson Funeral & Cremation Service of Shawano. Jory Lawson will officiate. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery, Shawano. Relatives and friends may call at Mickelson Funeral Service on Monday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.

The family requests memorials in Betty’s name to Alzheimer’s Association.

Robert L. Hendrick

Robert L. Hendrick, 85, of Keshena, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017, at his home.

Robert was born in Mosinee on April 15, 1931, the son of the late James and Mary (Vanish) Hendrick. On May 21, 1955, Robert was united in marriage to Lorraine O’Connor in Mosinee. Robert served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1949-1977. He served during the Berlin Crisis in 1961-1962 and continued as a first sergeant in the National Guard, 32nd Division, until being honorably discharged in 1977.

Robert worked as the West Coast area sales manager for the Mosinee Paper Corporation for 28 years and was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Keshena. Robert was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed the Packers and Brewers. He and Lorraine had Packers season tickets for many years. Robert loved to golf, played the drums, and loved listening to big band music. He loved life and will be missed by all who knew him.

Robert is survived by his wife, Lorraine; their two daughters, Kathleen Ann Hendrick, of Greenfield, and her two children, Stanley John and Anna Lorraine, and Patricia Louise Felix, of Houston, Texas, and her son, Joshua Robert.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services for Robert will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2017, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Keshena with the Rev. Joel Jores officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Keshena American Legion Post 497/Veterans of the Menominee Nation following the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery in spring. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from noon until the time of the service.

Lovely Usack

Lovely “Ann” Usack, 70, of Bonduel, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, in De Pere.

Ann was born in the town of Ford, Taylor County, on Feb. 6, 1947, the daughter of Helen (Przybylski) Chaplinski and the late Victor Chaplinski. She served in the United States Air Force from 1965-1968 during the Vietnam Era before being honorably discharged.

On Sept. 11, 1971, Ann was united in marriage to Larry J. Usack in Medford. Ann was an animal lover, and owning two horses and 15 cats, she believed highly in the humane treatment of animals. She lived in the Bonduel area for 17 years and enjoyed gardening, sewing, needlework and antique sales.

Ann was an active member of St. Martin Catholic Church in Cecil, where she was involved in the woman’s club and the food pantry.

Ann is survived by her husband, Larry; one son, Nikolai Usack; one granddaughter, Helena; her mother, Helen Chaplinski; her brother, William (Lynn) Chaplinski; and her sister, Antoinette (Daniel) Reichow.

She was preceded in death by her father, Victor Chaplinski.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017, at St. Martin Catholic Church in Cecil with Deacon Mike Grzeca and the Rev. Luke Ferris officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Bonduel American Legion Post 217. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Memorials may be directed to the Shawano County Humane Society or SAM 25.

Allen J. Tomashek

Allen “Al” James Tomashek, 72, of Shawano, died at home on Thursday, March 23, 2017. Born on May 11, 1944, in Shawano, he was the son of the late Alois “Mux” and Bernice (Meisner) Tomashek.

Al was united in marriage to Kathleen Lohrengel on Dec. 22, 1980, in Shawano. Al enjoyed participating in poker tournaments, hunting, fishing, going up north with his dog, Riley, and especially spending time with family and grandkids. He also enjoyed collecting antiques and Precious Moment figurines.

Al was a member of the Shawano Agriculture Society and loved going to the Shawano County Fair each year.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his children, Andy (Cheryl Carpenter) Tomashek, of Shawano, Ashley (Cody Singer) Tomashek, of Shawano, Tammy Lucht, of Omro, Traci (Jeff) Dayton, of Shawano, Therese (Mike) Kelly, of Black Creek, and Pat (Penny) Lohrengel, of Clintonville; 15 grandchildren, Adrian, Tristan, Alexandrea, Adin, Alyssa, Cameron, Brianna (Dennis Christensen), Matt (Jenny Zahradka), Heather, Nathan, Brooke, Hunter, Cheyenne, Brooke Buckbee and Morgan Sigl; four great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Braeden, Mason and MaKaylee.

Al was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Alison Tomashek.

Funeral services were held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2017, at Swedberg Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Ludford officiating. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Monday from 4:30 p.m. until the time of the service.

Virginia P. Weimer

Virginia Phylis Weimer, 94, of Gresham, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, in Shawano.

Virginia was born in Lyndhurst on April 2, 1922, the daughter of the late Robert and Laura (Schmidt) Otto. In 1944, she moved to Milwaukee, where she worked for Midland Co-op and later for Milwaukee Public School lunch service.

On Oct. 19, 1946, Virginia was united in marriage to Otto Weimer at Zion Lutheran Church in Gresham. The couple lived in Milwaukee until 1980 when they moved back to Gresham. On Aug. 8, 1990, Otto passed away.

Virginia was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gresham and Zion Ladies Aid, for which she held various offices. She was also a volunteer for the Gresham Area Senior Citizens and Bethesda Thrift Store in Green Bay.

Virginia is survived by one son, Bruce (Maria) Weimer, of Milwaukee; two daughters, Burnel Quinlan, of Milwaukee, and Sandra Englert, of Shawano; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto; her parents; and four brothers, Clarence, Lester, Roy and Robert II.

Funeral services for Virginia will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church in Gresham with the Rev. John C. Eyer officiating. Interment will be in Zion Rest Cemetery in the town of Herman. Visitation will be held at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.

A memorial fund has been established for Zion Lutheran Church in Gresham.
